Holidays 2023

Just booked my holiday for 2023. Starting off in January to February a nice trip into Central America from Mexico, Guatemala Belize (Andy Hunt around?), Costa Rica and then a stay in Bogotá (hoping for a little excursion to Aruba). And then back in time to enjoy the freezing weather and to plan another trip to South Africa in April. That’s what a call a nice start to the year.

My youngest has been in Bogota on business for the last three months (back tomorrow) - he and his missus loved it and based on his experience I would also recommend a trip to Medellin if you can fit it in.

My plans so far for 2023 - Mallorca in June and Vegas in September.
  • Want to do something in Feb half term. Possible city break with an 11 yr old and 16yr old in tow. Any suggestions?
  • Center Parcs in Jan & May, plus we’re planning a few days in Paris over Easter, 2 weeks all inclusive somewhere in Spain in the summer and possibly somewhere for the October half term

I pleased your son enjoyed Bogotá - Colombia is a great place to visit and I spent nearly 4 weeks there earlier this year and stayed in Bogotá and Medellin, Cartagena, Barranquilla (and San Andreas). Only returning to Bogotá to visit friends as I make my way back to Blighty.

Rome, amazing at all ages plus the added bonus of pizza and ice cream.
Don’t forget February could be cold although maybe not a problem for a city break.

Had a great one week ‘arctic’ break in Northern Norway last month.Three nights in Tromso, then took a flight further North East up to Alta for the rest of the time. Saw the Northern Lights in both locations, a nice day cruise from Tromso (unfortunately a month too late for whale watching, but stunning scenery), feeding reindeer, sledging down a ski run, cooking dinner in a glass “igloo” on top of our lodge near Alta whilst watching the Aurora etc.

The highlight for me, aside from seeing the Northern Lights, was dog sledding with huskies. They allocated us each a team of 4 dogs and our own sledge. We had to harness each dog up and then went out on a cross country run in convoy with an experienced guide. Those dogs can really fly if you don’t control them via the brake. Also very friendly dogs.

Doing a fly and flop in Majorca in June and then having a walking holiday in September when 14 of us are walking the last 360 kms of the Via Francigena route from just West of Florence down to Rome.
