IT'S BACK - 2022-23 CL Prediction League Week 1 Fixtures - **JOINERS WELCOME**

It’s back! The 2022-23 Prediction League is back, welcoming back old competitors and any newbies who want to prove that they know a thing or two about football. If you’re new to the Prediction League, all you have to do is pick three games from the fixtures listed below and choose the score. You get three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. The full rules are below. The prize is the glory of winning this prestigious competition. If you want to know how winning the last competition has changed someone's life, just ask @flyingkiwiDK, our 2021-22 champion.

If you missed the 2021-22 CL Prediction League Mega Statbank, you can find it here.

As usual, the top 100-odd competitors on Christmas Day gain entry to the prestigious Prediction Knock Out Cup, which starts in January 2023.

The Prediction League rules are:

1.       You score 3 points for a correct score and 1 point for a correct result (i.e. home win, draw, away win). You get a bonus point if you get all three scores right.

2.       Each week you should predict the score of up to three games that are listed on the Prediction League fixtures thread. If you pick more than three games, only the first three will count. The thread listing the games will usually appear by the end of Wednesday each week. As games may take place on any day between Friday and Monday, you must ensure that you only pick games that have not kicked off. If you pick a game after it has kicked off, you will score zero points, regardless of the outcome.

3.       If you pick a Cup game of any description or a game where extra time/penalties may take place, the score at the end of normal time counts.

4.       If a game is abandoned, the score at the time of the abandonment counts.

5.       If a game you choose is postponed, it will only count if it is played by the end of Monday; otherwise it will score zero points.

6.       If a game is postponed, you can choose another game by posting your alternative selection.

7.       When posting your predictions, please try to avoid any chat/banter with others (I have to strip that stuff out manually before my software program works out the scores). Also, try to avoid jokey team names such as ‘MK Dunces’ (again, I have to edit this manually).

8.       Each week the scores you achieve will be posted, usually by Tuesday, with the League Tables and other statistics.

9.       You can miss up to three weeks over the course of the season. In this case, you will score the average (rounded to the nearest whole number) scored by those entering that week. Exceptionally, for the last week of the season, this dispensation is not allowed.

Any questions – just inbox me.
