    what is "Beths"?
Is Bexley Grammer School, one of the best in the area
I thought BETHS was Bexleyheath & Erith Technical High School?

    Is that right?

I thought it was Bexley and Erith Technical High School. @golfaddick went to Bexley Grammar School, and I don't think he went to Beths. I stand to be corrected.

Two different schools in different places. Bexley Grammar is in Danson Park isn’t it?

I also thought Ness looked a good prospect in his short time on the pitch

Yeah, and BETHS is near the Holiday Inn in Bexley.

    Ex-Beths
As is Richard Chin and Lewis Bate who is now at Leeds and previously at Chelsea, having already his first team debut for both PL clubs. All three are the same age and were in the same school midfield
Lewis Bate hasn't made his first team debut at Chelsea or Leeds yet - he was on the bench a few times for Chelsea and at Leeds recently

Sad thing is, at the age of 8, Lewis had offers from Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs to join their academies but Charlton didn't want him - as a result, his dad to spend the next 6 years having to ferry him round to Cobham. We missed out there.

Not that good if that's how they spell 'Grammar'.

Or is it named after Kelsey's lesser-known brother?

Point taken. He has played for both Chelsea and Leeds in the Football League Trophy against League opposition albeit that he was representing their respective U21 sides. Leeds paid £1.5m for him and he has played for England U17, U18 and scored for the U20 against Italy

I think his dad will be rewarded financially now and on the near future

We had some decent teams down at Beths. In my second year we had 8/9 players who were on the books of various academies but never quite clicked as a team so wasn't particularly successful. A travesty really, I remember playing teams like Erith, Bexleyhealth and Bexley Grammar who we should have been smashing but often didn't. I was at Orient as a keeper but had to play LB for the school because I wasn't the best in my year group (he was at West Ham). I believe one or two are playing semi-pro and the rest of us are 9-5 workers.

  • Good luck Euan. First Euan to play for us ?

Between our posts I edited my comment because it made no sense whatsoever and not as it was originally intended. I should probably just delete it anyway and stick to the day job!

Good to see. It was 5 years ago I saw him play for our u18s away at Eastbourne Utd when he was only 16. Most of that squad were a similar age.

He was one of the players who stood out. Agyemang came off the bench and was the other. We released him a few years back and he had a brief spell with Man City, he’s now at Boro and had a few loan spells.

Considering how well our academy has done over the years it’s strange to see a group where so few broke through. Aaron Henry started in midfield. Looks like Campbell may have been an (unused?) sub and Charlie Barker was also on the bench.

So the three Beths boys from the same school year have all found new clubs - Richard Chin at Farnborough in the National League South, Euan Williams at Gillingham in League 2 and Lewis Bate, who Leeds paid £1.5m for and who played a few matches in the Premier League has just gone on a free to Stockport in League 1. All three. I'm sure, would have hoped to have been playing at a higher level than they've ended up at but should take encouragement from all those others who have had to take backward steps to go forward again.

Not the greatest of starts for the lad. Sent off on his debut in the League Cup defeat against Swansea for a reckless tackle. Hopefully he will learn from that and get another opportunity soon enough.
