Best ever eleven?

I have been thinking which would be our best ever team. Its all down to opinion. This one here has got to be a great one......Bartram, Humprey, Rufus, Powell, Lee, Kinsella, Parker, Simonsen, Firmani, Mendonca, Di Canio. What do you think? Managed by Curbishley btw :)

If you want a team of the best players who've played for us, regardless of how good they were when we eventually got them then Barnes and DiCanio are certs.

Players who got better (older) after leaving requires Parker and Rob Lee.

What about a worst 11 of the past 10 years, lot's of choices out there-
    Thuram
    Nego Sarr Doherty Thatcher
D.Sinclair LePoint Racon McAlery (everton bloke from earlier this season)
    Polish Pete Abbott

    Kiely

    Humphrey
    Rufus
    Hewie
    Powell Chris

    Powell Colin
    Parker
    Kinsella
    Glover

    Hales
    Bent D

    SUBS:

    Johns
    Bonds
    Shirtliff
    Jensen
    Robinson John
    Firmani
    Mendonca

The two parameters in selecting this team were:

    1) I saw the player live myself

    2) The player completed at least a full season with us which is why Allan Simonsen isn't there.

Tomorrow it might all be different!

    Primus
    Sturgess

    Bacon

You've got me thinking now. Bacon, Dowman and McLeod need to come in to my team. Sturgess reminded me of another left back that was appalling. Jamie Stuart.

Primus is a bit harsh though.

Think Primus under Pardew when on-loan from Portsmouth rather than young Primus at Upton Park.

Totally forgot he had a 2nd spell with us. He was pony 2nd time around.

We have had so many forgettable players over the last 8 years.

Nothing wrong with reprising such threads IMO - we have new members joining etc. The original poster is quite new here as well

    Kiely

    Humphrey
    Costa
    Rufus
    Powell

    Robinson
    Kinsella
    Parker
    Mortimer

    Mendonca
    Kermorgant

Tight choices to leave Jensen out, so subs

    Bolder
    Brown
    Jensen
    Di Canio
Bowen (I thought he was class the short time we had him)
    Lee
    Whyte

Best team I have seen play:-

    Kiely

    Humphrey
    Rufus
    Costa
    Powell

    Mortimer
    Kinsella
    Jenson
    Di Canio

    Bent
    Williams

    Subs
Carson, Robinson, Brown, Mendonca, Parker, Lee, Kermorgant

Tough choice up front as Mendonca and Kermorgant could easily have got in!!
  • Interesting. I still say the most talented player I have seen in aCAFC shirt was Paul Walsh.
No better winger than Len Glover.
Kiely or Nicky Johns best keeper.
Humphrey should have played for England, he was that good.
Parker pure quality, why he is booed when he comes back, I cannot understand.
Rufus class, pity he has a rather questionable recent history.
Fish and Herman at the back.
Hales and Bent ( Darren not Marcus up front)
    Curbs managing.
