Kids seeing the light and not wanting to support CAFC, Or Adults seeing the light and not wanting to support CAFC, Has been happening since the 60's when we sold any decent players. In the 70's when we went down to the 3rd tier we had a record low of just a few thousand. The 80's we lost a whole generation by deserting the valley; I wonder who those kids support now. December the 5th 1992 and my 1st born is due ! Of course i was at the Valley, and the boy waited a few extra days. I said i would name the Boy after the first goalscorer that day but reneged on that after Colin Walsh did the honours. COLIN, do me a favour ! The lad became Matthew after Matt Tees. Ups and downs since then, but when Tj/Slater run out of Kevin Cash, we have declined with one bad decision after another; on and off the pitch. IF Roland doesn't see the light soon or sell up, Another generation will be lost.
The lad said he was bored of Charlton losing and was embarrassed by the boys laughing at him at school. He said that he didn't want to go on Saturday. I took a knee, put a hand on his shoulder and said, 'I don't give a fuck about what you want, you're going whether you like it or not. Now go to your room.'
Don’t let your children wimp out of supporting Charlton. It is character building stuff that will do them good in the long run.
If football team supporters were army units we would be the SAS. We go in where angels fear to tread, we are on the front line of derision, we confront our fear and still check the results. We develop systems to face up to glory hunters. We are the few against the many.
Now we face the greatest challenge of all - the enemy within. The human spirit shines most brightly when most tested.
Its a bit like Heroin addiction you swear off and there you are at the valley again thinking how did I get here and why did I let these fuckers spoil my saturday AGAIN.
The 'banter' is not good at the moment. Im a teacher in West Yorkshire. The kids that support Leeds are getting revenge for all the shit I was giving them. I'm getting it from the Huddersfield, Massive and frigging Ossett Town kids. One of the kids bought me a Charlton mug as a secret Santa prezzie last year. I was proudly showing it off last year. Now I'm on the verge of hiding it as it tends to lead into annoying banta.
Seeing so much of what we created - The Valley Party, identity, passion, hard graft, etc, undone. To be fair, the rot set in well before RD came on the scene, but since he was owner, almost all of our identity has gone. And when we don't appear grateful for the 'gifts' bestown upon us, we're taken to be ungrateful and insolent. Or so it seems. We don't want your touchline sofa, or your vacant slogans, or your in / out / in / out players and coaches. We want our Charlton Athletic. We want you to go.

My eldest first game was 1999, Mendonca hat trick in front of nearly 20'000, he was hooked and never missed a home game for 12 years.
Think it would put my little fella of taking him to a quarter filled stadium, getting beat and the crowd booing.
Not the kind of atmosphere to grab him in yet.
"won't get fooled again" - supporting this lot I will

We will never surrender.
