Someone put his name in the frame when we were waiting with baited breath to see what our confirmed signing would be last week (which turned to be Veljkovic).
Check out his Wikipedia page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christophe_Lepoint. Words like "dynamic", "creative", "prolific" and "talented" don't spring to mind. Word's like "cheap", "Belgian", "average" and "uninspiring" seem depressingly appropriate.

When he/If he signs then @paulie8290 will start the official "Lepoint signs" thread.
I'm sorry if I have caused any offence and overstepped the mark in starting this thread before Paulie. I accept any punishment deemed suitable by our esteemed moderators
Is he better than anything we have already got? I very much doubt it. But he fits M.Duchatelet's criteria that he is Belgian and cheap. The transfer window is no longer an event for positive anticipation when our transfer targets have become so stereotyped. We seem to be a home for Belgian footballing waifs and strays. I fear Division One has just edged that little bit closer.
I find it extremely sad that every player we sign, or are linked with, I have to look him up on google/wiki, as I've never heard of them............
Trouble is I have to do that with a lot of English Players as well...
Watched Preston v Walsall a few weeks ago on the telly and they were praising the impact of Tom Bradshaw who has scored a ton of goals since joining them - Up until that point had never heard of him

Can I be the first to say "what's le point?".
As I said on the rumours thread, I wouldn't pay too much attention to his English wiki page as I doubt it's been updated much. His Dutch one looks a bit more encouraging...

Yes, I hadn't heard of most of the Powell signings that won us L1, or at most knew little about them.
Why do we bother having a chief scout when all we seem to do is buy unknown players from Belgium. I think Rolly wants to avoid paying redundancy to Phil Chappell

Chappie must've had something to do with getting those players.
Perhaps Roland's just thinking about raising our profile with the tabloid headline writers..."Watt's Le Point", "Missing Le Point", "Charlton still Pointless after 6 games", etc, etc?
Sounds like he's been a bit of a basket case, wild child and rebel without a cause.
But he's also aggressive, creative and a box-to-box midfielder. That ticks a few boxes.
He's also played in various leagues outside of Belgium, so not fazed by coming here. Plenty of experience in top flight Belgian football, played a couple of times at senior level for his country and plenty of junior international football. There's sufficient pedigree.
If his attitude is good, he could be an experienced and very useful acquisition.
Kermorgant is a good lesson in not relying too much on stats, but then we knew Powell knew his qualities. We have no idea who's making these decisions or what their credentials are to judge players for the English game and in particular the Championship.
The big worry for me in his record this season is that of his 12 starts he's been subbed in 6 of them. You might conclude he's been crap or he's a sicknote, but probably simplistic.
Assuming RD isn't going to throw any proper money at these signings, you have to ask why Gent are so happy to part with Lepoint. (For Gent and Lepoint, you can substitute Sporting and Sarr, etc etc).

Will be fantastic for us IF it happens

For Genk it appears this is going to be a point lost... For Charlton though its a point gained and we need all the points we can get
