After 35 years of supporting through thick and mostly thin, I think I'm falling out of love with Charlton. Maybe it's because I've got two v young children who take up my time and my focus but actually, I've been feeling like this for some time now. Anyone else?
Yeah I have 2 kids and they take up a massive focus for me as well. Days like today make me wonder why I ever got so bothered about 11 men I don't even know running around and kicking a ball round a pitch. Still want us to win, but there are so many more important things in life
Piss poor from Peeters. Piss poor all round What was that formation all about Solly a left sided midfielder? Harriott, Igor and JBG running around like headless chickens.
Poor keeping from Pope for both goals. The team lacked leadership and urgency. Igor and George strolling back from offside positions when we were on the counter was poor, Bikeys miss summed up the afternoon
Definitely Jacko's fault. Shouldn't have got injured. That really was shite. Pope's culpable for the goals but Bob's selection and tactics cost us the game IMHO.
I try not to criticise too much, I think I'm quite a rose-tinted fan. However, that's really not good enough.
Personally, after a very slow start, I liked the way we set up. Credit must go to Bob Peeters for that. But, from 70 minutes on what the hell was the message to the players? It felt like a training game. How can it be so that for the last four minutes we make Blackpool look stupid yet for the previous twenty we play just dilly-dally football? Perhaps complacency? We should have put our foot on the jugular and gone and got a third ...
Now I accept that you can't plan for two goalkeeping errors from Nick Pope. But for me, they shouldn't have mattered in the context of the game because we had it in us to put this game out of sight.
Blackpool were dire and lack of ambition has cost the team two points today. I have to say I am getting bored with the throwing away of winning positions.
A few plus points;
- Gomez exceptional - Good to have Buyens back - Great finish from Cousins - Good build-up play in the lead up to the penalty, something we should have seen more of.
We only have ourselves to blame and the script was written for a set piece equaliser as soon as we sat back.
The team is better than the level it is allowed to play at. The games I've watched where we could've beaten teams and haven't, or even enjoyed giving a poor side a good thrashing but haven't because we sit back after one goal has been pathetic. How many times has that actually worked? Three or four times at best.
The set-up of the side is poor, what happened to the 4-3-3 touted before the start of the season, with attacking wing play? Barely seen it.
I was annoyed that maybe we were playing this brand of football to protect an unbeaten record which rarely matters in this league, especially when we were barely winning, but to still be so defensive and protect 1-0 leads with a history of it not happening often with so many draws is so short-sighted its unbelievable.
Sort it out Bob, this isn't the Premiership where we are scraping for points to stay up. We can beat anyone in this league if we want to, hell we could go out and thrash a few sides in this division if we tried. Just have us go all out and see where we end up. Our back line is solid enough that we aren't going to be shipping 3-4 goals if we go forward often.
Some of you lot need a serious reality check. I for one am actually enjoying not having the constant fear of relegation looming over us and the disaster that would bring. Get a grip.
Atrocious performance, what the hell was pope doing!!!! Thought bikey was also at fault and the miss.....just get your head over the ball!!!! Rightfully booed off.that was aleagur one standard game. We had a basis of a really successful season but negative tactics and lack of ambition is going to see us miss out, and that starts with RD and BP
Interesting quote from Sean Dyche on 5Live in regards to their poor early season form:
"It's my job as a manager to see through the result and look at the performance because you have to see a future in the way you are working"
I wonder if Bob sees a future in the way we are doing things right now despite the fact we are still picking up points. Being tough to beat is important, but surely the balance of the team needs to be at least tweaked.
Come on , last week I was completely slagged off moaning after the last magnificent draw under big Bob . So now we go 3 home games 2 points. Where are all you frcking "its so much better than last season " people now ! . Came home season ticket on the bookshelf. Can,t see it coming off again, want this kinda pain, il book a dentist appointment .
Negative, boring. Really starting to get fed up with sitting back all the tim when we are one up. Blackpool were awful. Tucadean done fuck all when he came on. Very pissed off from Bexley.
Final 3rd play is atrocious. Once we get within crossing distance, everyone stops moving and expects Fox/Solly to whip in a wonder cross that will manage to confuse a stationary defender. Tucudean is not up to scratch (perhaps harsh but he seems to me like a *slightly* better Pawel Abbott). Team needs to stop faffing around when we attack with pace. Other than that Gomez is a talent and a half and I hope we manage to hold on to him for a while.
Letting in goals last 5 is always going to leave a bitter taste in the mouth.
Personally, with us employing a squad that doesn't bankrupt the squad and features a massive home grown element, I don't worry about the short term so much. We won't go down so it's a season of adjustment and learning for BP.
Tactics seem unfathomable but no doubt the "park the bus" victories we had in the early part of the season have influenced BP. You can understand why he takes the safety first approach, even if you don't agree with it.
Think early season wins has papered over the fact that Bob cant set up an attacking side. We dont ever go out of our way to attack the game full on, like most other teams seem to do in this division (regardless of it gets you the points). We get by through scrapping wins or draws now. If you look at the vast majority of our squad there is an attacking team in there but is told to be cautious and adheres to set of instructions that I see week in week out that provide no positive output. Nothing ever seems to come through the middle and wing play is always limited to cutting inside and not even shooting most of the time. Today was just piss poor. Only bright spark was Gomez who looked fantastic again.
....as usual. What a drag. If Bob pushes Bikey up front after the somewhat inevitable Blackpool equaliser the the guy is supposed to score the open goal and not go all Nicky Bailey on us. Probably blew his shoe in for player of the year with that awful miss. Watching us today was like using your computer but finding some kind of virus or malware playing silly buggers with the normal programmes. We were disjointed and ill at ease with ourselves, and I am sorry to say even though both goals were down to Pope It was Peeters who was at fault with so much experimentation today, and bringing on George for Callum was a poor decision. By the way talking of poor, our first free kick was in the 29th minute, and despite holding his nose and giving us our stonewall penalty, the ref was a useless egotist and made heaps of bewildering decisions. For me Gomez was our best player in the first half, and Solly was best overall mainly because of the way he tried to adjust to his new position. Indeed in my view all of our five home grown starting players were good, and I wish Johan was as good...what exactly is it with Johan? Frustrating player, just like the frustrating performance and result. Is it now too late for us to do anything this season? Probably is.
Dire dire dire Stop playing players just because they are from our academy when plainly they are not good enough, I give you Harriot, Fox and Pope. Roland give Bob some spending money for Xmas for fucks sake.
Some of you lot need a serious reality check. I for one am actually enjoying not having the constant fear of relegation looming over us and the disaster that would bring. Get a grip.
I'm still pleased at the turnaround from last season and satisfied what we have achieved. I just think today's game has angered a lot of the fans. I certainly don't expect to win any game in this division, but the way it panned out today was definitely a game we should be taking 3pts from. No disrespect to Blackpool, but we were in control for the most part, and should be beating sides like them no probs.
As others as have said, combination of a funny set up, sitting back on 2-1 lead, poor defending and a shocking miss at the end means we only take a point.
I still trust in BP has seemed to be as visibly pissed off as the rest of us come final whistle, but I fear he is becoming too over reliant on defending the 1 goal lead. We definitely did not need to sit back against an opposition like the one we had today.
Now we have added pressure to get a result against a decent team next week.

That's all

Everyone around me seemed pretty certain too!

but i also thought their.free kick was soft. it looked a good tackle to me
Won't be many £150 half season tickets sold off the back of performances like this.
Yoni Buyens, picking up a loose ball on THEIR 18 yard line - and picking out a BACK PASS !
And as for George............
Very pissed off from Bexley.

No need to reach for the razor blades yet.

We are only 3 wins and a few goals off top spot.
Should only take a year to get the points and 2 to get the goals!

1 in September
1 in October
None in Nov and probably none in Dec either.
