    The chances of getting an answer from the op appear to be slim, so to his original question the answer is

    8 defeats without gaining promotion during the 2009/2010 season where we finished 4th in League one and lost in a penalty shoot out to Swindon Town in the play off semi finals.

    The most league draws in a season is 20, during the 1995/1996 season where we finished 6th in the First Division with 71 points over 46 games. A play off place was secured but failed to progress any further after losing over 2 legs to Crystal Palace.
