Dervite

Didn't really know where to put this, but someone's posted on the charlton Facebook page a conversation he had with Dorian Dervite. Apparently he was offered a contract but it was ridiculously low, and he was shocked by the lack of ambition and change in manager.

Really hope we get a replacement in soon. Was a very good player when he was played regularly.

Not surprising. Expect Morrison to follow suit shortly.

    Then Poyet.

  • Hamer was also disgusted at the contract he was offered and very unhappy

Its an absolute disgrace how 'we' are treating our players.. more to leave soon including Morrison..
  • I know he was definitely offered a new contract. 3 years I believe but he wanted 4. And the money was an issue though it wasn't thought to be insurmountable.

I think his comments might be borne out it coming from a footballers perspective whereas the offer comes from a business perspective and an eye on financial fair play.

He was a good player but not irreplaceable
  • Not to go over it all again but I think a similar thing happened with Yann. Managing them out of the club maybe ready to bring in players from the rest of the network. I just hope we keep hold of our own academy players in the future. That is all I ask. I worry that we'll be a club full of foreign imports from Roland's other clubs. Where is the local or even English identity in that? The best we can hope for is a mixture of our own and network players I think.

That is the best we can hope for but Rolands only real chance of money out of this project he calls Charlton is selling our academy players, especially after the money hes pumping into Sparrows Lane.. he's not doing that to have a more pleasant visit next time.

Treating players badly spreads quick, everyone of our former players is speaking out as to how theyre unhappy, from the outside looking in its not pretty. I'm not sure PL teams will send us their players, tbh.
  • Pretty sure the deal was all but agreed before Riga left.

Bolton have clearly offered a better package, don't need Dervite to tell us that. Why else would a footballer move from London to Bolton.

AA - from what Airman says, RD is not exactly pumping loads of cash into the new development facilities which are mainly funded through external funding. As for treating players badly, I am not sure we have done this, if you are always the ones offering the most you will end up like Leeds. On a limited budget you have to pick your battles I guess. Let's wait and see what happens to Poyet, MM and Gomez.

Can you point me to where Hamer or Dervite have said they are disgusted with our contract offer?

The words 'apparently' and 'Facebook' should tell you all you need to know.

Reminds me of the time Ashley Cole was 'physically sick' after Arsenal only offered him £45k a week.

    Poor little loves.

This is how much we can pay - if you can get more elsewhere, then good luck to you. I mean Derivte is hardly being 'ambitious' by moving to Bolton.

That's a little unfair on Devite. If the company you work for came to you & said "We want you to carry on working for us but take a huge pay cut", whilst knowing that another company wanted you to do the same job for them but on considerably more money, I think we all know which 1 we'd choose

''Charlton offered me a two-year deal and Leicester offered me a four-year one. They are a great club that are going into the Premier League - it was a no-brainer.''

    A two year deal???? DISGUSTING!

Theres nothing on there to say he is very unhappy or the offer was disgusting. He was offered a better contract by a Prem club. Thats a massive difference.

He also says he wasn't offered anything until after the Blackpool game. There was clearly no real effort made to keep him.

This has been done before but we didn't know what league we were in until 4 days before that game.

Hamer is replaceable imo and perhaps RD didn't see the need to gamble on keeping a high earner if we were playing L1 football.

My point still stands….i haven't seen Hamer or Dervite say our offers were disgusting. It appears they just got better offers elsewhere.

He never said he was disgusted, more bullshit!

Leicester are in the prem they can offer longer more lucrative contracts, so not an absolute disgrace then.
  • Players and fans need to get used to the idea that players wages are going to change and not for the benefit of the players at least outside the Premier League. FFP will require clubs to make ends meet and offering ridiculous unaffordable contracts to replaceable players is not going to happen for the majority of clubs. The Boltons, Bournemouths and the like are living way beyond their means and eventually the pigeons will come home to roost.

I'm glad that a dose of reality is being introduced to football.
  • same with Hamer. Offered a contract but not a very good one. Seems to me that the club want them to leave and are going through the motions. Offer a contract so it looks like we are a good, nice club but we know it's crap so they will leave and we don't look bad....although I have to say, Bolton? My understanding is they are so much in debt (£163m)they are hovering with going into administration? I'm surprised they can sign players.

  • From the titbits I've heard, Hamer was offered a very good deal financially for a Championship club.

We are a good club, and a nice club - and a sensible club. If that was all we could afford then it's a take it or leave it. Why would we bother to go through the motions of offering a contract, wasting time and effort in drawing up documents, having discussions with agents blah blah blah just to look good when it was our intention all along to get rid? It would have been a lot easier to just release the player.

I cannot blame Hamer or Dervite for leaving when they had better offers on the table - but equally I do not blame the club for releasing players who are demanding more than we are prepared to offer.

As SHG says - it's about bloody time some commercial reality was introduced to football.

  • So lets be realistic we probably offered him at the very worst about 4 or 5k a week.

Yet they wish us to feel sorry for him and Hamer?

Im still unsure about many aspects of the RD ownership but this is a new low for some posters, that they actually expect us to sympathise with these players, who get paid more in a week then plenty of people earn in a month and for playing a sport thousands dream of playing.

Reality needs to hit home in Football before the game implodes.

Think you've got the wrong end of the stick. Not quite sure how anything anyone has said can be perceived as feeling sorry for him for not getting stupid money.

So why is our club being criticised for offering a player a decent contract?

Edit: My original message was aimed at posters who have claimed in this thread that it is a disgrace how we have treated our players.

erm, its Facebook. People crave attention and they have weird agenda's etc. I mean ffs, we get plenty of that on here!

When it comes to football, i like to see or hear the truth first before using words such as 'disgusting' or 'disgrace'.

As of yet, i haven't seen any facts to support Hamer or Dervite being offered 'disgusting' contracts and until we do hear those words from them directly or see the figures, yes i will refuse to believe whats written by someone on Facebook.

CAFC - Hi Dorian - here's our offer. It's a 3 year deal at £4k a week. Slightly better than previous but, as you know we can't go silly with FFP rules. Big bonus if we get promoted though.

BWFC - Hi Dorian- here's our offer. It's a 4 year deal at £9k a week. To be frank it's a drop in the ocean compared to our current levels of debt so no sweat there. We are shite so you will be pretty busy - hope that's ok.

BWFC plus its a third of what we have been paying people so we reckon we got you on the cheap. welcome budget boy

Facebook rumours should generally be taken with a very large pinch of salt, I very rarely believe any of it. However, struggling to think of any negative rumours about Duchatelet that haven't turned out to be true - comments from Kermorgant, Morrison and Dyer all paint a very bleak picture, unless of course you think that the departure of senior pros (none of them remotely fit the "gold-digging footballer" profile), the undermining of the manager by the chairman and the influx of piss-poor Liege rejects is a good thing, in which case you must be delighted with how things are going.

I also find it interesting that the Financial Fair Play rules, which have been cited in several posts on this thread, seem to be affecting us far more severely than any other club in the country, not that I'm implying that our owner is using the new regulations as an excuse to spend the bare minimum on Charlton.

Anyway, far too much negativity on here. Let's not forget that he's had the pitch relayed, which he didn't have to do as we could have quite happily continued playing on a peat bog indefinitely (well at least on the rare occasions when it passed a pitch inspection), and Bob Peeters is the new Arsene Wenger.

Can't wait to read the excuses when Poyet goes.
