On paper the future looks bright......depending on...

As we all can see this season has been the most annoying. We all know what the faults have been...now we are safe, we should really push on now.

To succeed for next season and for the future we need the following,

1. Keep Rega, but not on a stupid long deal, give him two year contract with an option for another year. Give him a real chance. Also make sure some backroom staff are 'Charlton' men.

2. Whole new look at the team, which I am sure they will. Get rid of the dross.

3. Keep the youth, Poyet and Cousins, especially.

4. More liaising from the board, especially RD.

5. New Pitch!!! How will we attract 'better' players who have to play on that!!

These are what we need to get this club in a position to challenge for next season and then on. But, if we only get 2 or 3 of these points, we will have the same type of season, then we need to ask the question,' why the hell did you purchase us...Roland????'

  • Pitch is on the cards...
  • I reckon we'll get our wish with 3 pretty soon.

Hopeful. Would be chuffed if DP signs.

  • Who is Rega??
  • ...how orange everything is
  • Sordell on a permanent too. I reckon with a good pre season and more supply next season he will be the player he was at Watford at some point in the not too distant future. Don't forget that before Riga we were creating zero chances. Now the chances are being created it is not a coincidence he looks more dangerous and has scored a few.
  • I agree dizzee. Just look at the Wednesday game. Played in twice from Harriott, two good goals. Got another chance, capitalised.

    I would keep him.

What about his 30 odd games before that ? I'm sorry, I listed the Wednesday game as my favourite moment of the season on another thread but I really don't think that over the course of the season Sordell has justified the rather large contract that would come along with signing him.

Are the chances being created? Watford and Sheffield Wednesday aside, we continue to producing the same hard-working performances that we have done all season - lots of huffing and puffing around the oppos penalty area but very little to show in terms of shots on goal. I don't recall a single game this season where a goalkeeper has stopped us getting all three points, or a draw. As for Sordell, good against Blackburn and Sheffield Wed, back to the anonymous norm on Tuesday. No thanks.
  • After reading Roland's article in Tuesday's programme I feel quietly optimistic

  • Sordell joined us late in pre-season (Just days before the first match)... Yes the last 30-games he's not shone himself in glory (and Ive critisiced him as much as anyone else)

But if Riga stays and can work his ideas on the training pitch over the summer rather than via. videos etc... then I reckon give him a two year Contract

Yes, I agree that over the course of the season he hasn't been great but let's face it. The team itself haven't been great. The last 3 games, he's been playing with confidence and we've all seen how well he's played. Under Powell, he wasn't starting very often. He would come on in the 80th minute and not do a lot. There's been other times this season where I think he has looked like a threat.

At the moment he is the best striker we have got. We need at least 2 strikers in the next window and I'd be happy for him to be one of them.

However that's just my opinion. :-)

    What did it say?
  • If we're looking to sign Sordell, I certainly don't agree with the title of this thread!
