We've got off to a great start under Riga. But I am reminded of the temporary lift that Pardew bought to the club in his first few games. We moved up the table and survival was well within our reach. We then had a televised away game which we approached very negatively and seemed content in playing out a drab 0 0 draw. We never managed to regain the initial spark and ended up getting relegated. We must not get complacent. We need to stay positive and keep pushing on for more wins until we are mathematically safe.

The most important element in football is lady luck.
I don't think there is any chance of complacency kicking in now we are in the business end of the season. Hopefully the win last night will give us a bit of momentum as the way to get out of this is a run of 3-4 positive results, like say Bolton and T'Wednesday had recently. When there is a positive wave, you need to ride it.
For Yeovil and Millwall to get that they will need to win 5 of their remaining 10 games. Barnsley would need to win 6 out of 11.
And seeing as all of us have only won 6 or 7 games this season the points total needed might be even lower.
Too early to make predictions re Riga generally, but I am impressed that he has come into a team at a very difficult time, made an initially positive impact and coped with trying to follow a very popular and liked manager and the associated hostility and suspicion.
At least we have given ourselves a chance.
Fair point. You could argue that if Harriott's chance had gone a foot to the left at Bramall Lane then Sheffield United would've been demoralised and we'd be going to Wembley. Fine margins.
1. We have put ourselves in a position where we are in control of what happens at least for now, notwithstanding the fact that we have a run of four games coming up where we may well end up with no points at all.
2. The teams below and immediately above us are not very good either.
3. We have the "new manager" bounce. Let's see if it lasts.
4. Although there are glaring weaknesses we at least have a squad assembled now that will cope in terms of numbers if not necessarily quality.
A long way to go. There will be ups and downs. But a few weeks ago we were rock bottom and liked royally stuffed. Hopefull? Yes. Complacent? No chance.
Fine margins, fine margins....
Or talking about going out on pens on Monday night and worrying about tonight's game.
We’ve got bean bags in the bar
We’ve got lots of willing players and they come from lands afar
We’ve got a load of great supporters and a lot of proppa fans
What ain’t we got?
We ain’t got Yann.
We "got lucky" because we were in their penalty area, instead of unlucky because we were dropping deeper and deeper and making negative substitutions.
