  • What I don't understand if you are a prospective professional footballer why you would slag off any other footballer.

Even at 16, I wouldn't have been slagging off people in my industry. Likewise I don't slag off my ex companies or staff.

Even his dad should have taught him that.

Maybe he knew he was going to or believed he already was better than those he slagged off. He does strike me as arrogant.

  • With regards to his comments on twitter; many a true word spoken in jest
  • FFS let's shut this thread down, he's now gone, gone, do you understand?... No more dramatics please! ;-)
  • On the bench for the Hamsters today.
  • No longer plays for us, couldn't give a flying whether he starts, subs bench or gets sold, close the thread
  • No longer plays for us, but I am still interested in how he does. Do not close the thread.

The West Ham game is on TV here. Saw him warming up on the touchline in the first half. I think his chances of playing will be very limited and I doubt he'll be an impact at West Ham like he was here. West Ham will probably still be what they were like last season so he basically has moved from one struggling team to another. However we're going to be better than last season judging from the first two three games so maybe his departure will be his loss rather than ours in the end.

Yup. His focus should have been on playing week in week out and not his bank balance after just half a season of football.

Surely he didn't believe he would be a first team player even at a bottom half premier league club. Shame for both parties really.

Once Poyet has trousered about 5 mill in the next three seasons, I'm thinking he could not give a poo how many games he plays.

He may do once he sees other young players moving up to the Premier League to start in 2/3 years once they're fully developed while he is still being shipped out on loan to the Championship.

That I can agree with. I am very cynical regards pro footballers, certainly in the premier.

Of course Poyet has to believe that he can make the West Ham first team, but should that not be the case he has still made himself financially secure for life then he can 'slum' it in the Championship.
  • Robbie Elliott has made 12 appearances for Newcastle since 2011. I believe his contract finishes in two years time, he will probably not sign for another premier club but he is young enough to 'start again' and perhaps get back to the premier league.

He is now a very wealthy man.

The point I am making is that players probably go for the money, then the football.

That said, and trying not to contradict myself, can you blame them?

    90? Don't you mean 270?
My mistake, got caught up in the fact that Poyet has only had one game.

Minutes of league football this season:

    Jordan Cousins: 180
    Diego Poyet: 0
  • Actually, it's 179 minutes, Cousins was subbed in the 89th vs Brentford.

Unerring accuracy, I'm impressed. Looks like you've got the job for the season Exiled!
  • Poyet went to West Ham FFS, not Man City!

Of course he will get games, maybe even establish himself. If he can't do it at West Ham it is because he is not a PL player and he will end up back in the Championship having earned PL money for a few seasons.

I am gutted he left, him in the middle instead of Jacko and Kermy upfront instead of Tuc and we would be right up there.
  • We are right up there with Bournemouth albeit after only two games. The thing is Poyet could have been helping us instead of sitting in his bucket seat. Let's see where things are at the end of month.
  • Playing for their U21's against Spurs tonight.
  • Nice one Diego.
  • Hamsters have new hot box to box guy, Kouyate so Diego will have to oust fans favourite but crap Nolan or rely on injury/suspension.

And they lost 2-1. Good crowd at the Lamex Stadium though - 794.
