  • Here is my story to this picture. Born in Charlton and Charlton fan for life. During 1992 (pre-Premiership days), the fourth official was appointed from the next level down, namely the Conference league. I officiated at that time, at that level. I asked the appointments official if I could be the 4th official for the first game back at the Valley and surprisingly he agreed (I did give him my two complimentary tickets for the game!). I got to the ground very early and in a very nostalgic mood - it was so good being back. I can recall forgetting my neutrality when Walsh scored: I jumped up and cheered like all supporters. I believe that the person standing in the background, underneath the right arm of Colin Walsh (light-coloured top) could well be me! Happy memories!
