What do you expect from the Club realistically?

We have a good reputation as a family club, which I know is anathema to a vociferous minority on here, and the Club wants to protect that hard earned reputation.

Two fans behind me nearly came to blows on Saturday and had to be separated by other fans and stewards.

We don't need that kind of nonsense at The Valley.

    Well done Mick Everett.

    Not in my name

What a surprise that a topic about the fans' behavior somehow instantly provokes pointless comments about the performance of the team on the pitch and the club's signings!!

It's all about the timing. With Millwall coming up at home its hardly a surprise the club has put out a statement like this .

So a lot of people dont think vandalising cars and ripping out seats should be a concern of the club.
Or it would only be a concern if we were performing well?

Hope they get their car vandalised but a disgruntled fan of another club.

Yes its all a load of dross, how dare they imply fans aren't delighted by the change in fan behavior.

I know my rights. The club knows nothing. Let's all give each other giant pats on the back for being so clever.

Must be away games nearer London cos the four I've made it to up here have been incident free, with no sign of any 'yobbish' behaviour.
Maybe the north brings out the best in people? ;o)

    safety in numbers down here

you can hide in a bigger crowd being a bell by breaking seats and vandalising cars when there's loads of punters about

“If this anti-social behaviour continues unabated, the club will have to start sending staff and stewards to away games in an effort to identify the individuals responsible and then take the necessary sanctions against them. "

    Why not just do this?

I don't recall any anti-social behaviour at all at any of the many away games I've been at this season. Actually the hard core away fans are praiseworthy.

Disappointed that the club felt this needed to be released. IMO it's a bad (naive) PR move... by making an official comment means a rag like the NS might even choose to run a story on this, which would be awful for trying to appeal to new fans etc.

as far as im aware, there were only incidents at selhurst and the den, so a bit of an over_reaction

    alright, who grassed?

Commit a misdemeanour in an enclosed space with cctv, thousands of smartphones and plenty of stewards and plod.
Who needs grasses when they're that stupid.

Did you find the game entertaining on Saturday then Tom?
To answer your question - yes, I love watching Charlton regardless of the result.

Still, don't understand what it has to do with the topic Mick Everitt is trying to address though.

Wish I'd seen that Len. Would have been more entertaining than the game.

    What a load of shite.

Concentrate on those on the pitch impersonating footballers.

To be honest, I've had some absolute maroons sat near me this season. North lower against Palace being a prime example. The fucking haircuts sitting behind the goal wanted a pasting simply for being alive they were that thick. They were like the annoying 13 year olds who sat behind me the year we went up the first time - without the redeeming factor of being teenagers as these mugs were about 20.

Some of the pond scum that follow us bear no resemblance to the 'lads' of yesteryear. They're beyond embarrassing - too many Danny Dyer films and Loaded mags.

Nanny State, Nanny Club. Why would we send our stewards to away games? Anti-social behaviour should be dealt with by their stewards. Just another excuse to have those repugnant wannabe macho hard-men stewards throwing their weight around. Not a very smart move, especially away from home.

can i be the first to say on this thread, why can't football fans learn a lesson from rugger fans - never a hint of trouble at Twickers (apart from that time they ran out of canapes & the Champers wasn't chilled enough)

    :)

It's so true, it's like they're completely oblivious to what british football has been for 50 odd years. Rightly or wrongly it's a culture; that will probably never die.
