  • When Green plays the other players have to carry him a bit because of his lack of defensive nous. On Saturday he did try to track back but was behind the player he was supposed to be tracking. The attack petered out so he got away with it. He did make a difference on Saturday. He did beat his marker with quick feet and also put over a few dangerous crosses. I think he should be in the team but we are not a pressing team with Green as he doesn't have the energy levels of Waggy, Pritch or Wilson. Anyway he is definately worth a place on the bench as a good attacking option.

In my opinion he can be a decent impact player sometimes as on Saturday but is not a 90 minute player.

We have a few of those!

    we sure do.
  • Seriously have a think about it....apart from all the throw ins and corners that were gifted to him to take when he came on, what else of note did he do?
  • He needs to step up to the plate. He does that and he gets games. He doesn't and he doesn't. Simples..

Between himself and CP changed the game in our favour, admittedly without getting the result.
  • According to the Millwall away programme, Danny had the most assists last season with 21. However; the same programme said Bradley Pritchard is 6 ft 1 and weighs 14 st 2 lbs, so it may not be true!
  • This is really starting to wind me up. People saying he's not getting a run in the team, fans won't give him a chance etc. He was a regular last season and was a massive let down. The fans had very high hopes and so were very patient but he didn't deliver. He has had more than enough chances and if he can't cut it in league one then why would he be any better in the championship? If he gets one more chance he should take it and repay the manager and the fans faith in him but every time he's played this season he's been shite.

    Bollocks.

I thought he did well last season and hasn't started much this.
  • I would love him to be the answer as had high hopes for him when he signed, i even predicted the summer that he signed that he would win player of the year by a landslide but every time i have seen him he has underperformed, sure every 1 in 10 games he might just about produce that bit of magic that no other player in our squad can but he is more of a liability IMO, lets just get to safety and then sign a creative player in the summer, who can actually do it more often.

To add to the endless debate, i would have Waggy/Pritchard/Wilson/Harriot all day long over him right now.

  • All Charlton players (apart from Solly) are better when they're not playing. FACT.

Agreed I mean andy hughes over the course of this season has become claude makelele

  • He cares more about his clothing range than his football.

I think I, and many others, had unrealistically high expectations of him when he came. He's got a good shot but tries it too often when better options are available. He has an excellent cross on him that comes off one in 15 times. His long throws usually go to defenders. He can't tackle, gives away needless fouls and is not quick.

Now go and score a couple tonight Danny...
  • Forgot all our players are in such sparkling consistent form no wonder greens not getting a game?

Agree and the scary thing is he looks more of a threat coming on as a sub than anyone ellse , danny haynes being the exception
  • Great summary WSS

I hope he scores 3 tonight...
  • He has a clothing range????

No wonder he's not getting a chance.
  • And every one else's throws/passes always find their man!
I forgot or I must watch a different game to some?
I must have missed our slick movement and passing b4 he came on?
  • Obviously you blinked.
  • On the bench tonight.
  • Danny Green did not get 21 assists last season.

  • I like the fella.

Also put in the best tackle of the Burnley match against Austin.

Very unlucky not to be given more chances.
  • Not involved tonight again :-(

Thankfully as from the sounds of things it was not a game where you want Solly having to defend 2 players to make up for Green not bothering.
  • Was all ready to come on last night and think he would have helped in the last 10 minutes as we kept putting crosses in down the right and Wilson's quality of that isn't as good as Green's. However, Powell decided against it after he was all stripped and warmed up, brang on Dervite in the last couple of minutes to make sure we gained something from the game.

Still think he can offer us something before the season ends and who knows, might assist a few vital goals in the run in.
  • I think that too often we concentrate on just the football skills, and forget things like personal attitude, ambition, hunger, and determination. What we are requiring is good man management, find out what makes a player tick, give him targets, loads of encouragement. CP definitely has the capacity to learn that skill, but hasn't got there yet in my opinion.

If anything I'd say football fans focus way too much on "attitude", "hunger" and all the rest of it and quite often think they are in a position to judge it without knowing the players at all.

All because Yann decides to have a sulk and sit down and put on a show after the Birmingham game, doesn't mean the rest of the players don't have hunger.

This Charlton squad has a great collective attitude and fighting spirit IMO.

I would in fact say the complete opposite. In terms of actual ability and skill, we are a league one team playing above our station. That is purely down to CP's motivation and leadership, much more than his tactical/logical abilities which are a work in progress for me.
  • Well, relegated from the bench now.... after all we have enough creative players.
  • Didn't miss him at all today had so many other options to change the game sitting on bench!
