Ricardo Fuller and a new signing

edited September 2012 in General Charlton
Despite his age in footballing terms I still think he is a class player and makes things happen, we need a few more like him. What's your views and who would be a realistic January target?

  • Let's get to January first.
  • I think a Middle Eastern Billionaire would do nicely.

ok... we leave the squad as is until January then, we'll be rock bottom by that point at this rate. Really cant see how someone like reo coker and some decent premier league kids will be a bad move.

I think thats what screwed us up. in the first place it was Dowie then Pardew, who bought badly and loaned badly.

  • Getting loanees in didn't fuck us over, getting crap overpriced unnecessary loans did. If Powell is astute with what cannot be much money left then I am sure we will see some new faces to freshen things up.

Bloody hell. Have we lost all our games or something? Did I dream an alternate reality where we beat Leicester and started the first three games out of five well? Let's not get too carried away now

  • Yeah shine166 get some perspective.

Call me ever the optimist but in the last 2 home games we should have actually got 4 points if it wasn't for disallowed goals which officials have either apologised for or have been blatant wrong decisions.

We beat a Leicester side which appears to be a strong one. Birmingham were lucky to equalise and if you were there then you'll know just what we are capable of.

Let's not go in to meltdown like some other team did last year. Reading didn't win any of their first six last year, and look how that turned out. We're actually doing better than one of the teams that went up last season.

ok it may have been a slight over reaction, but we will and are struggling with the current squad... or does everyone think we are still heading for the play offs ? Id rather bring in a couple of faces now than in 6 months.
  • I'd like to see some decent loan signings come in if there are any around, everyone wants to see the squad improved. I'm really disappointed at how quickly that promotion bounce has left this place though. We absolutely walked that league last year. For all people like to claim we were lucky towards the end of the season, we weren't. No team is completely dominant for an entire season and we got the most points ever. Now we've had a couple of bad results and some players aren't performing and it's like Owlstalk on here with the wrist-slitting and the misery. I half expect to see someone planning their route to Tranmere next time I'm at The Valley

    Probably wagstaff , he's a tranmere fan
  • I would be much more concerned with anyone other than CP in charge. Yes he's got it wrong on occassion but last season showed he was pretty quick to learn from mistakes and correct errors both on his part and the teams'. I expect a bit of a mix up and a much improved performance on Tuesday, and yes it is a pain losing to the Palace it is only one game.

I agree about CP. He did phenomenonly well in his first season as manager, he's liked everywhere he goes and seems to be ever the professional.

He's one of few managers that is honest enough to say when the team is bad; Notts County last season and Notts Forest last week. He's not one to just blame it on other people, which means he clearly recognises where changes need to be.

With CP at the helm I'm confident of being safe.
