she's a jewellers assistant, so gold digger would seem very apt.
Ok, lets ignore the crime, whether he is guilty or not...he cheated on her. That in my book is enough to distant herself from the maggot.
In your book. That's fine. It's your view.
But there are many couples where one party has had an affair or one night stand and the relationship has continued.
More importantly the girlfriend is not on trial.
true Henry she isn't but if she wants to pipe up and speak in public then she has to be prepared to take any criticism that may come her way. Might have been better if she had kept quiet, just like Sheff Utd are doing so well.
don't forget Colleen stayed with Wayne cause she loved him and it had nothing to do with his money or the lifestyle he could afford her ;-))
yes but Wayne is a lot wealthier than Evans... so who can blame her.
don't you worry Evans is on a decent wedge up there. They paid Man City something like 3m for him so he didn't come cheap. 10k pw on a three year deal, you do the math.
thought it was more than 10k but I thought I'd be conservative. At 18k pw on a three year deal that's 2.8m. Enough of a reason for her to stick around imo.

Disagree.
What you are saying is that now you have spoken about this in public I and anyone else are allowed to say anything we like about you and it doesn't have to be based on facts or even be close to the truth.
And if she had kept quiet? The reaction would have been "His girlfriend is being very quiet, proves she thinks he's done it".

Spot on, if she doesn’t want the public talking about her she should keep her clearly controversial opinions to herself.
I was being slightly factitious but all the various activities she is involved in must throw off plenty of cash. Then again Wayne earns much more than just his MUFC salary.
Given that their assets (houses, savings, cars etc.) are effectively owned 50/50 then on a present value basis, she may well be wealthier because her income streams will last longer than his (can't really see him going into lucrative coaching or media work after he retires).
Anyhow the point was that when he misbehaved, money wasn't a consideration when deciding to stay with him.

oh come on, how many of us even knew he had a girlfriend before she piped up???
she should have just shut her mouth and left him. what a normal decent human being would do.
Collen Rooney had earnings of around £5m a year a couple of years back
yes but that was after she had stayed with Wayne and built her 'career' up.

well yes in a way she is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't but this isn't as if Evans had just cheated on her. Whether his girlfriend likes it or not he is now a convicted rapist.
Evans is a convicted rapist and is, imho, not deserving of any support or help other than the minimum required in law ie a fair trial and the right to appeal.
His girlfriend on the other hand has not committed any offence. I might question her judgement but some are going too far in describing her motives as solely self-serving when they, and I, have no evidence for that.
OK, that's enough from me. Been a good debate but the trolls will be appearing soon so going to leave it here.
What you just don't understand is that people are voicing opinions, they are not are not stating facts. People are allowed to make up their minds about other people and voice that opinion.
It's understandable that his family and girlfriend would stick up for him, as there is in some people's minds an element of doubt in this case (with one defendant being found not guilty), so that in their minds he is an innocent man, and naturally they would want to stick up for him. It's not as if dragged her into the bushes, tore her clothes off and raped her - in that scenario, not even the most doting mother would stick up for their 'darling' son...

But even if she believes 100% in his innocence of rape, it doesn't change the fact that he has admitted to being unfaithful whilst drunk on a night out back in his hometown, and infront of his best mate.
This is only an opinion and not a fact, but she either doesn't think stuff like trust and morals are important or she has great belief in his ability to change.

I agree with what they have done but it is the inconsistency that annoys me both players should have been suspended on full pay .So its one rule for the rapist star striker who scored 35 goals another for the stupid reserve player .
What you just don't understand is that people are voicing opinions, they are not are not stating facts. People are allowed to make up their minds about other people and voice that opinion.
And if they air those opinions in a public forum, it's more than reasonable for others to point out the ridiculousness of the claims. As Henry has done (and I agree with completely).
This whole, sordid tale just goes from one nasty turn to another - from the event, to the reaction. The damning of people whom we have no information on... the reaction of the teammates... The Sheffield United fans airing their opinions on Twitter (which is probably the most depressing site)...
They either think they are harmless, or insignificant, or anonymous enough to not matter. But taken as a whole, that is one social networking site that shows its true colours when s**t hits the fan. I like reading about what Ron Howard is up to on his latest movie set, but at the cost of society baring its teeth on another day, I can't help but feel we'd be better off without it.
You take any single Sheffield United fan, out them on a pedestal and grill them over their views, they'll crumple almost instantly. But put hundreds of them together, and they'll say what they like without question.
My heart truly goes out to the young lady who has become the focal point of their supposed ire (or, more likely, boredom). I have been truly shocked by the reaction.
If the clapping happens - and I truly don't believe it will be more than a handful of fans who'll be drowned out by their fellow Blades - but if it does happen, and takes off around the ground, I would love to know what the appropriate sanction is.
The rape victim has had her reputation tarnished and people on twitter have been making a lot assumptions about her based on very little.
It now seems that Evens' partner is being having her reputation tarnished, although in a much lesser way, also on very little evidence.
People may well think she is wrong to support her boyfriend but how does that prove she is a gold digger. Yes, I know KHA said he's "not casting aspersions" but he quite clearly is,
The inference is clear. She is a WAG only interested in her nice house and car and nothing else. But there is no evidence for the huge leaps that KHA is making and others are agreeing with.
Henry, my comment about casting aspersions was perhaps a little harsh, she might have been in his class at school, but I have seen many girls on the tele that say that their 'career' path is to marry a Premier League footballer. They really don't care which one, they'll have any one they can lay their hands on so that they can be a WAG.
I've also watched many programs on the tele with WAGs in them (mainly as Mrs KHA wants to watch them) and they are almost all more interested in the lifestyle than the man they have. There is no doubt from both the media and the things I have seen in my life that women (and men for that matter) will make significant sacrifices with their partners if they have a lot of money and/or fame. I don't have a problem with people wanting a nice lifestyle or looking for a rich partner to share their life with, and I certainly didn't use the term gold digger.
I did make the point that he might well end up being released from prison and having all charges dropped in an appeal, which does remove some of the pressure from her as she hasn't decided to distance herself from him at this stage. If she believes his version of events then all he is 'guilty' of is sleeping with another girl (that his friend had, literally, just slept with) when he was rather drunk. If she cares enough for him (ignoring the different lifestyle she would have with someone else) to forgive him for that then that is, obviously, her choice. That decision becomes harder if he is, in fact, truly guilty of rape, but, again, it is her choice, and I don't criticise her either way.
I'm not saying that she would have dropped him like a stone if he'd been poor. I'm not saying that she is only with him (since they first met) because he is rich and famous (until recently for all the right reasons). I was merely suggesting that it was a possibility.
Having just googled her it would seem that she does, in fact, live with her millionaire parents. I still maintain, however, that there is a huge attraction to wealthy and/or famous people and the lifestyle that they provide does give them more slack with their girlfriends when they do something inappropriate.

That's her decision to make though. There are plenty of relationships which continue after infedility, it seems pointless speculating on something as complex as a relationship when we know so little of the facts. We have no idea what their relationship is like, and as such it's pretty pointless speculating on the reasons she is sticking by him.
I have only recently 'discovered' Twitter and I find it to be a fantastic source of information (eg. news, travel updates, social etc.) and a great timesaver (I can trust various accounts I follow to provide links to stories that I'm likely to find interesting, thus saving me the trouble of searching for it myself).
I must confess I did find myself trawlling through the Ched Evans garbage, but to be fair you only would have stumbled across it if you'd actively searched for it. If you just continued following the people you follow, you would have been none the wiser unless someone you follow happened to rewteet it (which is unlikely).
KHA, you say: "I still maintain, however, that there is a huge attraction to wealthy and/or famous people and the lifestyle that they provide does give them more slack with their girlfriends when they do something inappropriate."
That is of course before they marry them. Then of course the shoe is very much on the other foot - if the man misbehaves after marriagethe wife can then threaten to leave and take at least half their money, their kids and demand a healthy chunk of their ongoing income in alimony.

Abso-f********-lutely! I said exactly the same thing earlier in the thread. The filthy piece of trash should have been suspended as soon as the sordid background story to the case came to light.

I really hope you are never wrongly accused of anything, especially something as serious as rape.
If they had suspended him when the charges were brought and he was then found not guilty, he would have had (in my view) a good case for suing SUFC for damaging his career (particularly as a football one is so short).
Perhaps the better alternative would have been to continue paying him and allowing him to train, but not picking him for the first team.

Mate that's a bit silly....surely you must know that every year there are countless thousands of folk worldwide who get arrested, go to court and are subsequently found not guilty....you simply can't go around persecuting and punishing folk who've only been accused of crimes........much as you may want to......let the legal system run it's course then and 'only' then, you can pass judgement yourself as and when the verdict is given....... if you so wish. Innocent until proven guilty is the 'legal cornerstone' of any civilized society.

as for the sentence, there is no manslaughter equivalent for rape, but if there were then that is what he has been found guilty of
