well- 1.you cant blam abbott or martin for that! they did there job, maybe abbott should have had 4 2.get mambo out on loan to get league games with league two side same with stav 3.llera shite 4.and didnt we look at signing harold 5.ok we can concentrate on league but we were flying at 3-0 up 6.no team should lose 4-3 after leading by that score 7.no dailly charlton all over shop at back
If you play a weakened team you ask for trouble....BUT on balance I think we picked the right team for the occasion. Our squad isn't nearly big enough to cope with the additional games so Parky picked the right players...except maybe the goalie (who might have had a blinder for all I know because I wasn't there). One or two have got minutes under their belt and the forwards have now all scored this season! If we didn't know already, it shows how much we need Semedo and Dailly....so we should be thankful they've both stayed! Annoying for those who were mad enough to go (I have done many similar mad things myself....) but will be long forgotten in a few days time. I just hope that we approach things a bit differently when the FA Cup comes around...no matter who we are drawn against.
Think this shows what we all know, and that is we have a paper thin squad. With the second string not being good enough to even beat a league 2 side. Lets keep our fingers crossed for no long term injuries to key personnel.
yes i know its only the naffing League Cup but FFS why o why o why o why are we so shit ? yet another loss to a team in a league below us.
Just how many times in the last 10 years is that ? a defeat to a team in a lower league ?
Its beyond a joke its ---------------just glad it was away and i didnt have to watch it------sorry for the peeps who made the effort to get there.
nextyear just dont bother ---simple really--- we aint got the dosh tell the FA etc we conceed the game and save the money in travel and apearance money for the players.
Ok so people dont give a shit a about this Cup-------correct. So heres an idea -------------------off the wall-------------------once in a life time----------------lets win a cup game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who knows we might like it--------------we might go on a journey------------- get some confidence------------feel we are at a higher level----------------make some money ------------------------wild ideas i know.
Or we could just turn up lose and its just another joke result for the English games worst cup team.
Its as easy as reading the bumps on yer own head. What would early season be like for us without an embarrassing cup defeat to lower league opposition ? Although we may have to watch out in future years as there aint many leagues lower than the one we are in, we are running out !
that squad outside our first 11-13 is relegation level for league one...
weve just found that out...
there's no needs to start ripping up the seats or going balistic... this is Charlton you support guys, you do know all this already... we have had enough practise at exiting cups, and on top of that its good news for the squad.. for sure.. imagine if we did get a big game, and that resulted in us losing Reidy, we could sit here making up what ifs all night.. but the truth be known we can now concentrate on the only thing that matters which is the league!
To be honest i expected us to lose the minute i saw the defence we had out tonight. However to lose 4-3 after going 3-0 up to a side in league 2 is probably a new milestone in our pathetically crap league cup history.
As others have said the first XI is decent enough, maybe even 14-15 if you think that Racon, Martin, Youga and Francis didn't start on saturday. However beyond that we are desperately short.
To add to our woes i see Palace nicked a last minute winner and Millwall won in ET. 'Number 3 in South London' doesn't sound quite so good
yeah the JPT and the FA cup... we dont need these ... if we can get out of this at the first attempt as well all the better I reckon...
we have a paper thin squad and simply dont have the depth to cope and mount any sort of meaningful challenge...
Get it done, get out the cups and focus on the priorities... once we are championship again then a different story but for now the priority has to be to get out this league...
yes is was the league when we was in the Prem it was the league in the chumps it was promotion last year blah blah blah blah NO IT NAFFING ISNT -----OK ----IT ISNT its about beating teams that are in a lower league than you thats a LOWER LEAGUE than you.
Its about geting a settled team that knows each other and plays as a team---that understands where each other are and their strengths and weaknesses are ---its building confidence and team values -----------------------------or just turn up make 8/9/10 changes and lose to a team in a lower league -----------------------still i guess it dosnt matter.

what the hell were those 2 thinking? they have no chance of winning this cup
I must say that i can't quite see the point in putting out a weakened side. In my mind we need to get a side together that can gel and get to know each other. We've got enough new players as it is and i think the number of changes tonight was too many.
Yes we have a game on friday but so do Orient and they fielded a strong side and won at Swindon, so who's going into that with their tail up?
Looking through the lineups tonight of other sides in our league, Huddersfield had a strong side out, so did Southampton, so did Colchester. Boyd, McLean and Mackail-Smith all scored for Peterborough and Sheffield Weds had a strong side out as well. All won.
I know we have a small squad but it's only the second game of the season, winning breeds confidence and tonight won't have given us anything. All Parky has learnt tonight is that Solly isn't a left back, Mambo needs to be loaned out and Llera is f*cking useless. I could have told him that at 7.45pm.
Yes, I think we should put our main attention to doing well in the league, but my oh my, tonight is embarrassing! We had a simple task of holding onto a massive 3-0 lead against a mediocre league 2 side, we can't even do that. Tonight proves that our squad is not up to standard and we'd better pray we don't lose players to injury, suspension etc. because we'll be in trouble. Disappointed in the team to be honest.
Tonight gave a good opportunity for 'squad' players to prove themselves and fight for a place. Tonight gave us an opportunity to receive some prize money that would help the club no ends. I really hope friday night there is a massive improvement. Last year wasn't so bad with Hereford because we weren't 3-0 up.
our defensive pairing is all now how and no fricking legs... their very very OLD...
that means we have to look after them...
3 games in 6 days would have been a very foolish move today......
We have simply learnt that our reserve defence is total and utter garbage....
the good news is out front line is looking better and better, 1 sodje, 2 abbott, 1 martin, and I expect reidy to get on teh scoresheet sooner rather than later as well... so lets stay calm and look forward to orient... calm down ......

Ha, ha, ha! Exactly. How those Palace and Millwall fans must be cursing the fact that a cup run is going to disrupt and interefere with their league priorities. Clearly, SE7 is by far the happiest part of south london tonight...

Angry and gutted yet again.
Big concerns about the squad, really can't afford many injuries or suspensions this year to even stand a chance of play offs.
