Loan signings seem to be a constant topic of discussion in here. There have been some real "hummers" in the last couple of years, but who over your time supporting the addicks who would you rate as the most pointless.....not the worst player but a signing who just didn't make sense.
Off the top of my head I can think of the following from a few years back:
Chris Wilder - Lennie Lawrence seemed to sign him on loan twice a season for a couple of years. Can't recall ever seeing him play!
Rueben Agboola - Signed for 1 game to cover an injury to John Humphrey
Jim McDonough - Irish goalkeeper, seemed to be on loan and on the bench forever.

......
From memory he played twice - as you say when JH was injured, then he went back to the Mackems. So as he was signed as a temporary cover and he played in what way was his signing "pointless"?
Whats all that about ?
All the other recent ones pale into insignifance against those two
We own McLeod having paid well over £1m for him...
If you are a Millwall fan he's a pointless loan signing.
just joined League 2 Bradford on loan. Found his level imo.
i mean from a millwall view. being stuck paying the wages of someone you are refusing to play but can't send back puts the deon burton suggestion into perspective.
Loaned to us to play in our reserves for a season.
I remember seeing on the 98/99 squad we had David Tuttle on loan (from Palace?), never played for us in the end, not sure he even made the bench.
Omar Pouso, never going to adapt to English football.
More recently Scott Sinclair - not that he's a bad player, but we already had Thomas, Ambrose, Sam, Cook and Varney to play on the wing.
Cook was another one, needed to get fit and we had plenty of wingers and midfielders.
I'd argue Halford as well, would we have done any worse last season if Moutaouakil got a run in the team instead of Halford? It would have done him good.
El Khalej was a free transfer, that's for another thread.
Jon Hendry - absolute rubbish , only scored 1 goal.....;-)
bloody good goal if I remember correctly though
Great goal, great result.
Ah, playing them in the league, when will that ever happen again?
What did he ever achieve with us..?
Anyone who played in that Play-Off final will be a hero in my book.
(he did play in it didnt he?)
Wooosh!
OK WSS how about
George Costa.
What did he ever do for us.
And his sympathetic comment of ''poor lad'' !
The loan signing of a striker who had never scored a goal at senior level was the final evidence (as if any was needed) that Pardew had lost the plot.
In all honesty though - he was nothing spectacular but just did a job when needed.
Sinclair
Mike Small
Not a loan signing.
Mike Small was the worst signing but most pointless I felt was Keith Gillespie as it would've killed any confidence Harold Lloyd Sam had left.
Les Reed, most pointless manager?
was, initially.
