They'll do us but it'll prob be our only cup journey of the season so i'll have to make the effort.....

After last night, that is possibly the last draw you would have asked for ... or is that just being negative?

I think he is terrorising North Wales & Cheshire, whereas Chesterfield is where the bloke from the ROD says, just off the M1.

Looks like away fans get 1800 tickets , 1400 standing and 400 odd seating

Uncovered terracing on a cold wet wednesday night , lovely , cant wait

definitely going. reckon this could be on the telly this one?
  • If I was Sky, I'd chose us and Southend-Man Utd since they're both smaller clubs at home to bigger clubs, nice risk of upsets, and all that.

    Notts County v Wycombe
    Tottenham v Port Vale
    Birmingham v Liverpool
    Chelsea v Aston Villa
    Watford v Newcastle
    Chesterfield v Charlton
    Southend v Man Utd
    Everton v Arsenal

I watch the Addicks play there in the 70's. Needless to say that I cant remember much about it other than I recall seeing Chesterfield's famous crooked steeple. Are they called the Spirets?
  • Around that neck of the woods. North Derbyshire, not far from Sheffield.

In fact, I think you pass the ground if you get the train to Sheffield.

    Its between Nottingham and Sheffield

As Inspector says reckon this along with the Sarfend game will be on the box as they love an upset

three away games in ten days is really gonna stretch the old purse strings. May have to sacrifice Wigan for a trip to Saltergate.

Saw Killer score an absloute cracker up there about 25 years ago. I think the goal is on one of the club videos 'Goal rush?'

I'm pretty sure that as you come off the motorway you can see the crooked spire.

I seem to recall the away fans standing on the side of the pitch that day too?
  • Am I right in thinking that if we win this game it'll be the furthest we've ever been in the League Cup?

if you can make it you really should. imean to miss our First passage into the Fifth round would be a shame. I live in Sheffield and have met Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster fans, but never a Spirite. this is a real blast from the past ground that we don't get to visit very often (thanks to Curbs). the locals will be well up for this one as they never do anything in the league. i remember when Kevin Davies (Bolton) scored a hat trick for them in the cup a while back. i knew him for a while and went out drinking with him once in Chesterfield, and can confirm that the women and the beer are both pretty cheap. come on lads you'll regret it if you don't make this one.
  • In reply to Stone's comment about away fans standing on the pitch about 25 years ago,i have to admit to being old enough to be there and remembering some of the night myself!
I was on one of the 3 or 4 coaches that made the journey and was unlucky to be in the one that broke down! We were picked up and taken to the game on a double decker bus from Derby ,but did not arrive at the ground until half time. The turnstiles were all shut and we were all looking for a way into the ground. There was actually an open door in the middle of their main stand, the whole coach then proceeded through this along a corridor which led to the players tunnel,we all went through and ran straight onto the pitch!
The local police escorted us to the away end.We were to find out i think that the score was 2-2 ? and remember thinking that we had missed all the action and had the prospect of a quiet 2nd half?
Not the case,we saw another 5 goals and Charlton went on to win 5-4
Seem to remember Jock Wallace the Birmingham manager at the time actually watching the match in the away end and chatting to Charlton supporters?

I'm 99% sure we've never got as far as the quarters, which of course we shall reach if we win this game.

Thats really a prettysoft record...... if by winning only two gmes in a row your in the quarters , and weve NEVER done that, well that pretty soft.......
