Hotels-Seville

Thinking of going to Seville 3-4 days, late October
Anyone been? Area/hotel recomendations welcomed
Generally, seen some pretty poor reviews for hotels that are not that cheap
Cheers

Just back, our second visit and loved it.

We stay at the Casa Imperial, only 5-10 mins from anywhere, very comfy and helpful staff.

Only tips if you haven't been are, Tapas, be disciplined and order one per bar then move on, a great days grazing then follows and each usuly specialises in one dish.

Airport transfer, dont  bother with taxis, EA line is 4€ from outside the arrivals building direct to the city centre, takes around 30 mins.

Both Seville and Real Betis grounds are pretty close to town if your ground hopping.
  • This place does good food and has an amazing setting on the river.

Mariatrifulca, Puente de Triana, Plaza del Altozano, esquina, 41010 Sevilla,

There's a bar on the roof of El Cortes Ingles where you can take bottles bought inside the shop and drink them in the sun with little or no corkage charge.
  • It's been a while but in season hotels were ruinously expensive.  Pensiones on the other hand cheaper.  The likes of Booking.com and air bnb have put paid to the days of bargains.

Find bars that give you free tapas with your drinks - that's what they are supposed to be...
  • It's been 10 years, but I THINK we stayed in this one...if you want rain showers, a fancy bar and service with a genuflection its not for you  :)
  • Thanks guys. SE7-SGE. Had looked at this one. What do you reckon 3 days enough, or 4 days? Wheresme...you say you think you stayed in this one, but there's no link/name of hotel. Would be interested to know what it's called. Addicks Addick, thanks, sounds good
  • 3 nights 4 days perfect, we booked via booking.com and got a superior double for around €140 a night inc a good breakfast, it was effectively a suite.

The 16C building is quite special, I will dig out the Tapas bars we liked best, like this one,
  • Seville is a fantastic city.. the Alfonso is the place to stay if you’ve got a few quid .the El Rinconcillo restaurant deffo worth a visit

    We went there, too.  Good.
  • Other things to do: canoe the river or cycle the footpath.  See the Calatrava bridges.

I’ve been there too. One of the bests tapas I’ve ever had

  • i stayed at Hotel Alcazar.  It is on a main road, but if you get high floor then amazing views of cathedral and sunset.  I stayed there so i was close to town and could watch view from balcony, with wine, whilst young kids slept in room.  It was reasonably priced.
  • We went in 2013 and stayed at Gran Melia Colon which was very nice and well located. Can't remember price. Lovely city, October great time to go
  • Been every year for last 8 years as in-laws have a villa half an hour outside
would absolutely recommend the Silken. https://www.booking.com/searchresults.en-gb.html?aid=311076&label=alandalus-oiKOHofNTN00BNtC_Lb77ASM266317212681%3Apl%3Ata%3Ap1%3Ap2%3Aac%3Aap1t1%3Aneg%3Afi%3Atikwd-360716140483%3Alp1007450%3Ali%3Adem%3Adm&sid=94c3e07dab1f525fac146785fd044aae&city=-402849&expand_sb=1&highlighted_hotels=91159&hlrd=no_dates&keep_landing=1&redirected=1&source=hotel&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7tCwmabC5AIVDLTtCh3mwgeCEAAYASAAEgIr5fD_BwE
Stayed there several times. Really nice pool and bar. Lovely rooms. And cheap.
Near Betis’ ground. Went a couple of weeks ago. Great fans. 60,000 every week.
  • 140 euros a night...... I can never return to Europe
  • Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and advice on hotels/restaurants etc. Think I'm probably going to go for the Casa Impreial Hotel, but still not 100% sure.  I think that if you over analyise the poorer reviews (as i have), then you end up going round in circles. Once again, I appreciate your time and comments. Melrose
  • We stayed at a wonderful hotel in Seville last week which was a 3 minute walk from the Cathedral and Alcazar - it was voted Trip Advisor's best hotel in the area, and did not disappoint.
hotel casa del poeta is a 17th Centrury building that has been developed into a Boutique Hotel.

  • Another vote for Casa del Poeta. Lovely hotel in a really interesting part of the City.
  • Hamer and Red_Pete, you nearly put the cat amongst the pigeons :)Looks a really good hotel. No availability in or around my dates, shame really. Thanks guys
  • Bognor it is then :)
  • Can't help with hotels as stayed in friends appartment, but Seville is a blinding 0lace to visit,

Great place - best city in Spain. Stayed at a lovely boutique style place called El Rey Moro there in the Barrio Santa Cruz which is the nicest and most authentic place in the city. Also stayed at Hotel Alcazar a couple of times which is just outside the Barrio Santa Cruz gardens and close to an area with lots of bars - this one was a bit more standard but good value. Loads to do in Sevilla and you'll have a brilliant time!
  • Thanks ibborg. Cheers Charlton Madrid, Those are 2 that I have already looked at and will now have another look. I'm sure I'll have a good time. When I'm fed up with the culture, I'll seek some more culture (bar related),Hic.............
  • Hopefully either Sevilla or Betis are playing while you are there - both great stadiums and supporters, but if it's Betis you're definitely in for a treat. Superb fans and atmosphere there.
  • I stayed at the casa romano hotel boutique. Just off the hipster La Alameda. I love seville, cheap and really cool vibe and lots of historical bits to see (royal alcazer is a beautiful place), would love to go again.

No beer on sale at Seville when I went. I was told that’s the norm in Spain, I cannot believe it is. It made a crap game even worse.
That aside it has to be one of the nicest Spanish cities.

I went a couple of weekends ago and there was beer on sale, not a great deal but enough for a few pints. Brilliant stadium, and we were lucky to have a decent game.
