  • Leicester v Spurs tonight.
    Barcelona v Spurs on Tuesday.

Spurs leave out Kane & Eriksen.
Pochettino, what are you doing man ?
Have you not listened to Paulie & Lincs ? What a bell.

Anyway, if Spurs win both games he was right and if they lose both he's wrong. There are definitely no others factors at all.

    Wibble.

Not really the same is it?

    1. Spurs' have a tough saturday night away game followed by a tuesday away game in Spain. That is hardly comparable to our saturday home game, then a saturday away game.
    2. He has named a full strength side apart from Kane and Eriksen. We had a reserve side.
    3. He has them both on the bench. We had 3 kids, a postman and the bloke from the corner shop.
Hey, we're not San Marino, you know.

    We're not that good.

Just wondered how teams coped back in the day when they had small squads....played replay after replay & only had 1 sub to bring on.

Yep.....they just.got on with it. We all said last week that LB would be vindicated if we picked up points in these 2 away games. We have as much chance off winning on Tues night as Teresa May' bill does of getting through the House.

And then have on a 2nd worst team in the league at home.....and that never goes the way it should.

    December is our nemesis.

Yeah they got on with it yet Football is surely played at a much faster pace these days - Doubt there are many of old who could actually keep up for 90mins these days

Nah, you're forgetting that they could all run a sub 4 minute mile and do the 100 metres in under 10 seconds...……….oh hang on a minute
  • i expect this has been said earlier. I wasn’t so upset with the team Bowyer fielded agaist Doncaster, it was the bench. It’s peffectly acceptable to rest players for a match, all managers do that. Most however would stick a few game changers on the bench just in case. Taylor, Grant and Aribo coming on for 20 minutes or so might have enabled us to get through to round 3. The decision has backfired, and will look much worse if we get beat Tuesday. However, we will win Tuesday, we always beat Portsmouth.
  • Whilst we are at it and apologies to the boxing thread, who was the greatest heavyweight of all time Rocky Marciano or Mohammed Ali?
  • Like me I am sure many of us sit and watch the live up dates on tv when we are away.It is amazing when we are clinging on to a lead or a draw we are always the last game to finish, yesterday,no messing we were the first result up,I think we are poxed.
  • Result I expected. We are fielding an 11 without at least four absolute first choices. A few are returning from injury and not sharp. At least one hasn’t kicked a ball properly this season having been mustard last. We have the spectre of Roland without the expectation of a sale. We’ve been poor and getting away with it for weeks. Apart from that............

We are doing ok despite all of the above. On our day we are very good but in general terms we are no better than top half of the middle in this league. We are where I hoped we would be at this stage all things considered. If we ever get a break (sorry) with injuries then we just need to hang on in there but it’s going to be a season of good runs and bad runs. We’ll get a thumping on Tuesday but we need to regroup next weekend and win our home game. No bed wetting from me. An expected if unfortunate loss.

My one big worry apart from all the excuses is we just cannot keep in conceding late goals. We are very brittle.

    This.

Just waiting at Blackpool North for the one train an hour that takes us to Preston.

That first half is up there with the worst performances I've seen from a Charlton side. There couldn't have been any arguments if we'd gone into the break 3-0 down. Second half we improved, and looked threatening for the 15 mins or so after Aribo's equaliser, but we didn't take our chances and we continued to look weak at the back throughout.

Not sure what Bielik was doing for their winner, but overall the team today wasn't good enough and it makes a total mockery of Bowyer's team selection last week.

I'll be at Pompey on Tuesday but I fear what'll happen if we turn up as half arsed as we did for the first half hour today.

Good atmosphere from our fans today, and a few of us were commenting on how impressive Blackpool's boycott is. Nice people up here so I hope Oyston fucks off soon so they can back to watching their club.

Wasn't it Pearce that the attacker ran past to score ?? Very poor defending imo. Didn't look over his shoulder & spot the run & then didnt stop the ball going past him. Sunday league players are better than that.

20 fags a day, a drinking culture including sharpeners before KO and at half time and then 90 gut wrenching minutes on this, no subs.
I wonder if the modern footballer could keep up

Don't forget the crap heavy boots & the ball that would knock your head off once it had soaked up the water on that pitch. I'd love to see how the twinkle toed prima donna's would get on with those conditions. Mind you I accept it would help their diving.

Your right they may have struggled themselves, pitches would have been rougher, the ball would have been harder and they wouldnt have had the coaching or nutrition that they do now

Just confirms you cant compare the two eras in Football

Truth is we’re a slightly above average league one team. The results and League table confirm it. Can we go up..yes. Will we go up probably no. Unless we get a change of ownership and find someone who want to progress us, all I can see is more of the same for a very long time.

Not sure but we were at the opposite end so didn't have a clear enough view to make an issue of it. Surprised though that none of our forwards made any fuss.

I don't understand Stevenson being picked ahead of Sarr or even Dijksteel. It made sense if we started with or wanted to go to three at the back, but in a 4-4-2 it doesn't. Got up and back well but didn't do much in either area.

Since Lewis Page got injured, we've had very little attacking width from LB ..... which is required in the diamond formation.
Solly, playing LB, has done fairly well defensively but doesn't get forward - and anyway, is stronger all round in his own specialist RB position.

Sarr is solid enough at LB but again, doesn't use the flank to get forward or offer much of an outlet.

In Cup games, Stevenson has shown he can get up and down the line in the Lewis Page style. I don't doubt he was given a game today to see if he's sufficiently dependable if needed .... Bowyer will think best to throw him in now and see if he's ready, rather than on Boxing Day when there may be other injuries and no other choice.

We've had to go all season without proper LB cover. Page getting injured after only a few matches was almost inevitable. He's only 18, but Stevenson may at least give a decent option.

Any one able to analyse how Stevenson played today?

That was the thinking, but he didn't play particularly well. And we only seem capable of letting one of our fullbacks be attacking in a match, so him going forward meant that Solly ended up sitting deep and playing conservatively for most of the match. As such, our attack was often stunted down the right, especially with Lapslie going on a wander quite often.

My point was kind of rhetorical, i.e. given how things turned out, I don't understand the benefit of Stevenson over Sarr. Perhaps because Stevenson has more pace up against Feeney, but Stevenson, who I think has quite a bright future ahead of him, struggled with Feeney at times.

Yes, that was far more a penalty, than the one Pearce got penalised for at Scunny.

Didnt notice it at the time yet having looked back at it, it looks to me as though the ball strikes his arm rather than a deliberate attempt

There was another incident that had Taylor and Grant seriously appealling over in the second half that Id like to see back though

Don't think it was handball.....neither did any of the 3 or 4 players in the box at the time. More frustrated with Taylor in the final clip but one.....a diving header would have done it. Not going with it with his leg.

I think that's the one where the defender slides in and takes the ball and then it hits his arm while he's on the ground. Of the three handball penalty shouts that's the only one I don't think should have been given. His arm isn't in an unnatural position and he (I think it was Daniels) is on the ground. Nothing he really could have done to avoid the ball hitting his arm. Just one of those things.
  • Scraped results against poor sides, was 6th in the league just in playoffs not in the auto spots like some would have you believe, it’s a long season so no major thing losing a game, think we will get playoffs - but won’t win them as we don’t have the instinct to kill a game off.
  • Dont really care if players are rested or not...the players he picked have to do a job regardless and they lost.

Bowyer done what he thought was best and has lost his "lord" status. Shall we stick him in the Luzon and Fraye camp now? We all get things wrong at times.

Blackpool have won 4 out there last 6 and are fairly good at home, always going to be a close game.

We are a league 1 team who might be able to sneak into the play-offs but we are NOT runaway winners or runners up and as such dont deserve to think we can beat teams in form. Doesn't matter who that is.

    Oh well, we lost.
Players looked a big leggy at the end.
    Doncaster won.
Amateurish decision from an amateurish club with a fanbase with little ambition.
Roll on Tuesday for another leggy performance and no doubt another loss.

    Sad times.
    Well done Lee.

"A bit leggy"? Bugger me most if them haven't played since the Armistice was signed!
    You mean, since 1918 ??

Probably a bit of an exaggeration - was thinking more or less since the 100th commemoration.

  • Liverpool used to win the League and or a cup most years (often the European Cup) using only 14/15 players. There is no point in resting anyone from our squad as the replacements aren't up to it. Mid table finish if we are lucky.
Another season of Roland next time around and it will be League 2 beckoning.
