Mid-term report - where are we?

edited October 2018 in General Charlton

It's our first international break so now is a good time to get a feel of how everyone has seen our start to the season so far.

Four simple questions - please answer them below (will use some answers on this evening's show)

1. What do you give our start to the season out of ten & why?

2. Best Player?

3. Player who has disappointed?

4. Where do you see us finishing?

Comments

  • Think worst player vote is a bit naff to be honest.
  • 1. About as expected, shit division everyone wins and loses.
    2. Taylor by a country mile.
    3. Steer. Pushed in the side with no real merit or reason to drop Phillips.
    4. If we get a bit more wise and lump it forward when we need to then top 4 is achievable.

Least best player would be better

    Fair point, will reword that

    1 - 6/10, as expected.
    2 - Taylor
    3 - Steer
    4 - 6th again

    1. 7/10 would have been 8 before this week

    2. Taylor has made a favourable impression on and off the pitch

    3. Steer does not fill me with confidence

    4. Realistically 10th or thereabouts. Injuries, suspensions and general lunacy from Roland selling someone crucial in January are likely to prevent anything better I fear. Play-offs would be possible at our strongest but how often will we be at our strongest?
  • 6.5 out of 10.
We are not learning from our mistakes.

    Taylor. Simply brilliant.

    Steer.
If we are going to drop Phillips it should be for someone better.
    Steer ain't better than Phillips.

    5th to 8th.
Depending on injuries and who Roland sells in January.
  • Hate to say it, but to get out of this league we need to play a more 'industrial' brand of football. In other words cut out the 6-man passing style and go direct and early. Teams have sussed us out. They stand off and allow us 60% plus of the pitch to do our fancy approach play then smother us in the final third. Best finish for us will be top six.
  • 1. What do you give our start to the season out of ten & why?

    7/10 Not killing teams off

    2. Best Player?

Bauer - just see how much we're missing him

    3. Player who has disappointed?

    Jackson - legs have gone

    4. Where do you see us finishing?

    2nd
  • 1) 6 out of ten. First 11 is arguably the best in the league, depth is a huge problem.

    2) Grant

    3) Steer (Unfair to say any of the fringe players)

    4) 6th, but 20+ points behind the top 2.

  • 1. 6.

    2. Taylor

    3. Fosu

    4. 8th
  • Should be sending truancy officers round to our decence.
  • 1 7

    2 Taylor

    3 Steer

    4 6th.
  • 1) 7/10
    2) Taylor. Honorable mention to Bauer who might be our most important player, the way the defence has slumped without him
    3) Pratley, been off the pace much of the time and 5 bookings by the beginning of October is ridiculous, especially when he hasn't even played every game due to injury
    4) Playoff positions (say 6th)
  • 1. 6.5/10 Playing well at tines but not getting the goals and rewards.

    2. Taylor (closely followed by Cullen and Aribo).

    3. Pratley/Steer (and Solly - not enough goals so far ... shocking)

    4. Top 6 (if lucky with injuries/suspensions) or mid-table (if everyone goes lame).
  • We conceded nine goals in a week (4 of which, were to newly promoted sides)
We are not good enough for promotion.

Four simple questions - please answer them below (will use some answers on this evening's show)

    1. What do you give our start to the season out of ten & why? 7 - better than I thought at the start of the season

    2. Best Player? Taylor

    3. Player who has disappointed? Fosu

    4. Where do you see us finishing? 10th

  • 1. 5 We've played some nice football but can't kill games off.

    2. Lyle Taylor - far better than I expected and great attitude. Works really hard.

    3. Steer - was expecting him to be better. Hopefully he'll improve over the season.

    4. 8th - will be higher if we learn how to defend.

  • 1. What do you give our start to the season out of ten & why? 6 playing better football but not taking our chances and look soft at the back

    2. Best Player? Lyle Taylor

    3. Player who has disappointed? Jed Steer

    4. Where do you see us finishing? Play-offs

1: 6/10 - Would have given an eight but for the last three games

2: Joe Aribo - Dithers on the ball at the times but probably our best midfielder

3: Tariqe Fosu ... Wouldnt have him ahead of a fit Ward or Clarke, as mentioned on Saturday @ Half-Time I think our formation best suits a passing midfielder at the top of the diamond rather than someone running at the opposition (we have Taylor and Grant for that)

4: Still think we can edge into the Play-Offs (after originally thinking we'd finish mid-table), going to be a bit like last season though where its right up to the wire rather than being comfortable in them over the course of the season

  • 1. 6/10
    2. Grant
    3. Pratley - doesn't offer any value in my opinion
    4. Playoffs - anything less would be a complete failure
