Best Charlton strike partnerships?

The Lyle Taylor and Karlan Grant partnership is coming along nicely. 8 goals between them already.

Which other partnerships from Charlton history do you remember fondly?

  • If only someone had an avatar, showing 2 Charlton forwards who scored lots of goals between them

Other than them, have a soft spot for Leaburn and Nelson, and Leaburn and Whyte.

Only together for a brief time, but Bright and Mendonca worked well together

  • Mendonca and Hunt hardly played together. Not long after we signed Hunt didn't Mendonca get injured and then never really came back.
  • The best Hales and Flanagan

  • Church and Sordell

    Kandol and Dickson.

Obviously a joke but did they ever play together?

My memory suggests they did but it might be playing tricks.

  • When did we last have a strike partnership where you could see either player finishing as top scorer? Not sure I’ve seen one since I’ve been a fan.

In 1999/2000 both players had each scored 9 goals before Mendonca had his injury in December. Hunt went on to score 24.

They also played together all the previous season in the Premier when we struggled.
  • Killer and flash were both players you expected to score and probably so did the opposition. Whether they were as effective together is another matter. Grant and Taylor are looking promising but it’s early days.
  • Whyte and Nelson worked well for a bit and Mendonca with Steve Jones was decent too. When one of the pair does a bit of donkey work out wide and the other one gets on the end of the penalty box stuff, it seems to make a decent pairing.
  • Phil Chapple and Kim Grant.
  • Killer and flash.
    Tees and Treacy.

If Taylor and Grant can fire us to promotion this season you can add them to the list.
