Hyde Park - England v Croatia

  • I got 2 tickets, still not convinced it will be great though. Overcrowded and full of knobheads no doubt.

I wish Wembley or London stadium had provisional plans to do this if we were to reach the semi finals, just feels like it's all so last minute and Hyde Park is the only option as it's already set up for the BST festival at the moment

Yeah, it's so last minute. Why weren't tickets for England's semi final on sale months ago ?
What I meant was the plans to do anything at all are last minute, as opposed to having public screenings and ticketing arrangements provisionally planned, should we make the semi finals
    Oh come on.
Who in their right minds would have been making extensive plans on England making the semi finals ?
    (No offence).
  • you couldn’t pay me to watch it in Hyde park!!
  • I personally couldn’t think of anywhere less I’d wanna watch it

    Trafalgar Square?

I don't know why football clubs don't do this.....

They do. Roly has invited a select few of us to a beam back of the Belgium France game at the Valley. Big screen, free Leffe on tap and all you can eat mussels et frites.

    Well looking forward to it.

    Fabrique Belgique mon petit pois!
Only coming if there's vol au vents.
  • The beer will be shyte and well over £6 a pop.

Pretty sure it will make the half time highlights show though.

And News at Ten when the riot police are called into action
Good point and absolutely everywhere else in the Country.

So many will have to be in duty.

If we get there and lose it will be Armegeddon and if we win..

    Well Armageddon...
  • Up North for the quarter final, attempts were made to hold big screen events. Typically you need to give two weeks notice to the local authority. The time span can be waived. However the police can veto events on public land if they can not provide adequate security. Which is what happened here. On private land you can hold the event but still have to demonstrate that you are provisioning adequate security / safety arrangements yourself. At short notice it's a lot of work.

  • All I can say is "I can stand in my garden 500 yards away from the TV, chuck beer over myself , get the wife and kids to push me about for 90 minutes, then pop down the Millers and pick a row with door staff. The Hyde Park experience without leaving Bexley !

    Simples

    Bloody big garden!

He didn't say it was his TV.

Open your curtains a tiny bit. You see that man behind the fence? Don't turn the lights on. Find your phone. Call 999.
  • Bunch of miseries, whole country s united and gripped with England fever. The more places that get filled with thousands of people the better. So what if some of those there aren’t mega football fans.

    Come on England!!!

Won't be saying that when one of the newbies spills a pornstar martini on your new st George crocs

Pay £6 for a pint and throw it over yourself! :-)

    Probably better than drinking it.

    And set off smoke bombs

  • 30000 fans leaving quietly and queuing politely for the underground Station

    Possibly.

  • That's one of the issues with scoring so early on, almost everyone has pretty much a full pint!
  • There is a solution to this.
“Pint of peroni and a Pint of tap water please love.....or Fosters”

    Croydon Boxpark.

Yes, but it's hardly the end the end of the world, is it?
  • It is all for the cameras. I saw the clip from Brighton beach this morning and the angle of the shot showed all the press lined up ready for the photo/video opportunity. Some people went sooooo over the top it was cringe worthy.

I just don't understand this craze of throwing the beers up.
It started happening at Spurs last couple of seasons, especially away from home in the bar concourses. It started with the new S*l C*mpbell song. Even then I thought it was ridiculous.

Now everyone is in on it. So what happens when the PL kicks off again? Is everyone going to throw their plastic bottles up in the air (with no cap on as its already been removed)?
Were the French throwing up their glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon in Les Champs Elysees on Tuesday night when they scored against Belgium?

I know I'm getting on a bit at 42 and turning into a middle aged bore but FFS, pack it in.

Do if at the Emirates though - but make sure it’s cups of urnine. Preferably 7 day old urine.
