I take it you didn’t get the job

We were sent a cv 4 months ago but the guy was too expensive. 4 months (and about 50 cvs)9 on and my needs have changed. The Cv has re-appeared from another agency and we’ve arranged an interview.

Original agency claims they want a fee if we employ him as the effectively “own him” for 6 months after introducing him. Even though the candidate has said he wants to work with the second agency ....

Surly it’s a different job now and the second agency has referred him for that job meaning he’s their bitch

I had the same problem. Two agencies sent the same candidate for the role advertised. I refused to pay the second agency the £10k introduction fee and told them to sort it out with the first agency. Hadn’t signed a contract so they didn't have a leg to stand on. Think they were just trying it on.
  • Awaits WSS.
  • Wasn't a notorious banned troll in recruitment?
  • They are in the same category as estate agents......Id rather do without them.

I've worked with good and bad recruiters as a candidate. If you find a good one, keep in touch with them. So many out there don't care about you and just want to box tick and get numbers to interviews.
  • Sure Leroy Ambrose will have something to say about this.

Sorry to anyone here who is a recruiter, but they are (unless a member of this forum) all rotters

That’s the exact term I was going to use!

  • Never knew there were so many out there to be honest.

Been offered dozens of short term contracts on ridiculous sums (so God knows how much they're being paid) by quite a few of them recently even though I'm not signed up to any of them. Seriously thinking of removing my profile from LinkedIn as a result.

If you advertise on your website you can guarantee 3-5 calls within half an hour from agencies

They go to my company LinkedIn page and just target my staff

LinkedIn is no longer used for what it was intended - it is now a recruiters tool.

I know there are some ethical ones out there but they are the exception and not the rule

Luckily I (or someone else) moderated my words...

I mean, they earn 15-20% as a minimum of my annual salary upon placement, for never having met me, phoned me 2-3 times, and basically acted like they are your friend "after all, I get paid more if you do" and act like it isn't a volume business (exactly the same as estate agents in that respect). They downplay everyone's salary expectations, they are probably more of a halt on the wages of people than this "evil Tory government."

I'd say if you have over 100 people in your company, you have to have a full time recruitment manager to sift through all the CVs. It's the only way to break the system up.

I say this as someone who has done very well through my job searches etc, purely because I know what they are like, and I am lucky enough to be in a position to take it or leave it if it comes to it, but these people are leeches, they really are.

  • Means to an end.

The only time I’ve used one, the fucker rang my boss at the time for a reference. I was not happy

A sales recruitment consultancy called certus

I thought the whole operation was school boy

Get greeted by some attractive woman who feigned interest in my day before unleashing the big hitters

Big hitters proceed to bombard me with similar roles to the one I wanted to leave despite telling them I’m looking for something different. Finally get something I want to go for and I’m pretty confident I can get, only to be told hedge my bets with other roles. Fair enough if they’re other roles I want but these weren’t

Leave, only to then be bombarded by their Reading office and other consultants trying to get me interviews in other roles I don’t want. They obviously don’t communicate, and the best thing is that I never really got an official brief of what the roles are, but every single one of them ends the call saying

“They’ve got trendy offices and they all go for a drink on Friday”

No wait, fuck it, now you’ve said that I’m sold. That’s what I want. A trendy office and the opportunity to run through banal chit chat with people I won’t like. That’s exactly what I’m looking for

As As AFKA says good and bad in every industry though

My only experience clouds my judgment a bit
2 experiences where I have resigned and within 15 minutes had one call saying "We would like to help fill the vacancy"

They did it at my first job that I resigned from and the Finance Director spent about 30 minutes arguing with them about what a bunch of slugs they were.

    Aye

    Spunktrumpets, the lot of em
Well that’s getting used tomorrow! Thanks

There is a huge disconnect between what recruiters think is a good recruiter and what a candidate / client thinks is a good recruiter.

Ultimately, if you’re a candidate engaging with a recruiter you immediately become a commodity.

The good news is that recruiters are killing their own industry with that attitude as it makes them completely replacable once Artificial Intelligence matures.

Estate Agents are dying on their arses with the boom in on line agents. Give it five years and you will not have to suffer them.

Wrong, recruiters won’t ever be replaced by AI. It’s a people business that machines can’t replace.

Except they are already being replaced, their only saving grace is working as a frontline filter on applications.

I think a lot of the comments on here prove that it certainly ain’t a people business! The only people they’re looking out for are themselves. AI will definitely eat into huge chunks of the industry. There’ll always be a place for the specialists, who look out for the recruiter/recruitee, but tech will definitely find a big place.
