I don't get the hype. He's decent and will probably have a long career but for our immediate and longer term needs, we should find a better fit in the summer.

Anyone who thinks we can get a better left back than dasilva at this level or the one above for that matter is crazy. Lad is class.

I completely agree, the lad just oozes ability! By far our player of the season above and beyond every other player bar maybe JFC.
He shows flashes and clearly has ability but he often goes running down blind alleys and also gets caught in possession easily when he hasn't already created himself a bit of forward momentum.

To be honest i felt we were lucky to get him on loan again this season, he's way better than league one.
Only last summer he was captain of England U19s when they won the Euro's. You're mental if you think we'll get anyone better at our current level.
This kids ability is far superior to anyone in our squad. The way he controls and the ball and glides with it is so good to watch. I've not seen a better control at the Valley for a long while.
Dasilva is class and way above anyone else we have had in that position for a long while. As good as Wiggins was before his injuries, Dasilva is a better player, even more so when you consider his height disadvantage.
He has so much control on the ball and is so important, our left side would not be anywhere near as good as it can be without him.
Yes he has defensive lapses but he’s young and he often gets exposed where our wingers don’t track back and protect in the way that Marshall does with Solly.
I do think he would be better as a wing-back and I do think we have the team now to play a 3421 or a 3412. Especially as it’s clear that the system at the moment isn’t working, is leaving us too exposed and is becoming far too predictable of how and where we are going to play.
Still think that’s harsh on Solly, but Marshall suits the wing-back position better right now. Harsh on Aribo maybe, but Kashi and Forster-Caskey are better players, Fosu is more dangerous in that space behind the strikers and we saw yesterday that Aribo doesn’t fit the number 10 position yet. Have to include Ajose because I think he is now going to work hard and is probably better finisher than anyone else we currently have, plus Magennis needs support and a willing runner with him.
I’ve now hijacked the thread, but ultimately, Dasilva is top class and wouldn’t ever get a better left back than him. Hopefully not out for too long and the boot is precautionary to make sure he doesn’t do it any more damage.
Dasilva is in the team as a defender and half our fans forget that. He might be great going forward but he's certainly a very average defender - in a team like ours that needs a solid defender he's not ideal.
Anyway who has seen Chris Powell play knows what a good left back is - excellent positioning and composed on the ball in defence. Even at the end of his career he held his own.
Dasilva to me looks more suited to midfield - lacks the physical presence to be a top class defender.

Good for him though. He's clearly a very gifted player and I think he'll have a fair few England caps before all is said and done.
But then Salah and De Bruyne didn't do too badly after leaving Chelsea!
