I am breaking my boycott today. We all deserve to celebrate THIS game, OUR history and OUR club. And. I’ll be singing “Charlton til I die” long after this mob have gone, having been here 44 years before them!
Exactly the same as this Tel! Hoping to bring some friends along from work today as they’ve wanted to come but I’ve been boycotting. Think I’ll struggle to get the 5-7 tickets though!

It's sad that on today of all days, some people prefer to be antagonistic to other Charlton fans and playing billy big bollocks making out that their choices are the only possible ones. As a boycotter I have decided that the social media, Bluewater whatever option because it is right for me. I don't expect others to follow suit unless they want to and I certainly don't expect to be told I'm any less of a fan because of my choice in how to handle this situation. Although I won't be there, I still hope that today's game is a terrific one with a party atmosphere and a fine win for the Addicks. I still don't feel prepared to give the regime my money though. As for coming back and singing 'Charlton 'til I die', that's precisely what I plan to do and nobody on this forum or anywhere else is going to stop me.

I am coming back today and today only to celebrate the victory 25 years ago of Charlton fans defeating immeasurable odds. I have nothing but respect for those boycotters who continue to stand firm, and like them, I am a die hard supporter. None of us are "acting the part".
As far as I'm concerned, staying at home has assisted in achieving what I want, which is an end to four years of abject failure by the owner and senior management of Charlton Athletic.
I have no other way of showing my displeasure as to how they have repeatedly made fundamental and disastrous mistakes in the stewardship of this famous old Club.
My moaning has been done, both here and in Belgium. Today is a day of celebration.

I disagree with your last para. A boycott makes a powerful statement, particularly when conducted by long standing and dedicated supporters.

Except that this week Roland intimated that those attending games supported his stewardship of the club. In addition to pocketing the 11 million quid he got for selling Lookman and not investing even 10 per cent of that in a replacement striker Roland has you giving him money to further rape the club you profess to love.

I will do. I am going. Am not doing a boycott. I admire those who do but can't not go to Charlton if I have a spare Saturday. I have gone to far less games than I would have and am picking and choosing rather than buying a season ticket. With student prices I have been able to cut the amount of money I give him by about 3/4.

Mametz makes a very good point there, in that he continues to financially rape the club with asset sales. In the KR spoke to RD thread, KR states that RD said to him 'do you not have an Academy player for that?' shows again (sigh) that he cares not a jot as to the football club and purely on trying to make money, or, at the very least to attempt to break even with asset sales. Now, i'm one of those, for logistical reasons, that hasnt been to The Valley this season, but i am of the view that boycotting is not the right thing to do, ticket sales mean nothing to Duchatelet, he doesnt care a jot, it just goes down as another (tiny) piece of his loan to Charlton and therefore makes the chance of selling potentially slimmer. Your post seems to imply that you think that boycotting is about current results on the pitch rather than the damage that Duchatelet's ownership has done to the club and it's relationship to it's fanbase - and will continue to do unless he sells up.

There doesn't have to be a divide. Some people feel like they can't go while Roland is in charge, some people feel that they'll go regardless as its their team, and neither decision is wrong. I will never understand why fans feel the need to dig each other out over one or the other

I'm not a boycotter. I just haven't felt like going since Powell got sacked, when I realised that 'support the team, not the regime' was harder than it sounded.
I’m not going and I don’t need to justify my stance to anyone. Furthermore when the current owner decides he has had enough of his weird experiment and sells up, I may come back, my choice. We are not all sheep, I don’t need to be told and won’t except being told by anyone what I can or can’t do.
