Villas in the Greek Islands

Anyone got any recommendations for next summer. Looking for villa(s) that can accommodate 16 people (1 x 8 bedrooms or 2 x 4 bedrooms). Wife's brother is married to an Aussie and they are coming over to Europe so looking for a great place for all the family to go to for a week.

Off the top of my head, I'd say you will struggle to find an 8-bed villa on the Greek Islands. Apart from a few small ones they all tend to be 3-4 bed. That said, I've stayed at a very nice villa called Fig Tree Villa near Fanes on Rhodes which was part of a small complex of 4 villas maybe you could book out a couple? I can't remember whether they were 3 or 4 bed though.

If you want an 8-bed jobbie, you probably need to think about somewhere like The Outer Banks, North Carolina. The Yanks seem to like the family reunion concept and have the large villas to accommodate large numbers of people.

Edited to add: yeah, I've just lobbed Greece/16 people into the James Villas search engine and it says "Sorry, no holidays have been found. We don't have just one particular villa available for your party. Although, we don't have one large villa to fit you all in, we may have multiple villas next to or close to each other for you instead. To find out more, give our knowledgeable Travel Advisers a call on 0800 074 0122".

Loads of them available through Owners Direct - depends on how much you want to pay and what's available for your dates. Best to book early as possible to get what you want.

Good call. But while I wouldn't let it put me off necessarily people should be aware that homeaway are NOT ATOL or ABTA regulated. (I guess because they are not selling flights and not selling a package holiday?)

No, actually, I might let it put me off on a booking this large which is going to involve a hefty outlay. In July 2018, you're talking £6.5K for a week at that first villa +flights. That's serious dosh.
  • Just over £400 each - not too bad. The second one was a lot cheaper.

I've used owners direct at least half a dozen times and have never had an issue - indeed we have returned to a couple of villas directly through the owner after loving the first visit.
  • Try www.villaplus.com although I doubt you'll get one that size in the Greek Islands.
We had an 8 bedroom villa in Portugal 2 years ago in the Algarve from them.
It also had 8 bathrooms and large pool etc.
  • With Owners Direct the payment options vary. Get one with a credit card option so that you are covered.
  • Thanks guys.
Was originally looking at algarve where much more choice but they managed to get good flight deal from Oz to Athens so was trying to find somewhere we could fly to and they could just ferry across.
  • Not cheap but this place is very special on the most stunning Greek island of them all.

If they fly into city airport instead they could island hop the stunning Thames estuary islands Canvey and Sheppey, cruise the Woolwich ferry and catch the Thames clipper to central London.

If not, most Greek Islands are reachable from Athens/Piraeus in 4/5 hours by ferry, not many have airports with flights from the UK. Skiathos/Skopelos in the Sporades have flights and Santorini/Mykonos in the Cyclades have loads with ferries connecting with all the islands in the group. The Dodecanes islands (Rhodes/Kos) and North Eastern Aegean (Samos/Thassos/Lesvos) can be a full day from Athens by ferry.

Came across this while looking at Greek holidays for next year.
There are a few large villas but this one has 8 bedrooms with 8 bathrooms
