Las Palmas v Valencia on SKY. That's a nice away game, on Gran Canaria.

Dipped into La Liga last night and looked at Real Madrid v Real Sociedad. One-sided and got duller as the game went on. Switched over to Napoli v Palermo for the last ten minutes, and regretted the earlier choice. More passion and drama in the Serie A game.

This is a better game as an advert for La Liga. Valencia 1-0 up through Mina after 20 mins. Both teams playing a positive 4-1-2-3.

    Two yellow cards in the space of three minutes. Munir is a silly boy. Valencia down to ten men, after starting the second half on the front foot.

    @CharltonMadrid , Las Palmas look like a team where the coach or the club have decided on how they want to play football, they've bought in players that play that style and then chose the system to suit the players, which happens to be 4-1-2-3. It's working. They remind me of West Ham over the 70s & 80s. It's not tippy tappy. They pass and move, get forward quickly in quick passing movements and run with the ball in midfield, a la Devonshire or Brooking.

    While I'm typing this, Wooooaaah 25 yard free kick over the wall and into the top corner by Lemos, 2-1.

    Either of you know if Las Palmas are known for having a particularly good away following? Went to Atletico vs Las Palmas in December and was shocked to see several hundred Las Palmas supporters in the away end. This was in stark contrast to my previous visit last January, when Rayo had 16 supporters in the away end for a cup game.

    Also noticed Seville appeared (from the tv pics)to have a decent turnout at Espanyol on Sunday. Is their a general upturn in traveling supporters at the moment?

    Away support is very random in Spain. A lot of clubs have a big push for one or two fixtures a year, when loads will go. Normally there are a couple of hundred at most. Then there are quite a lot of club friendships where lots go to away games against teams they have a (mostly political) bond with, ie Rayo and Deportivo.

    Sevilla and Espanyol share a pretty nationalistic ideology, so a lot would go to away games. Last year there was a death of a Depor fan at Atletico, traditionally opposed politically Ultras, so I guess away fans now go to fewer games with a political tinge and focus instead on more welcoming away fixtures.

    Went to the Real Madrid V Real Sociedad game last night. Thought that Sociedad played some good football and had a lot
    More possession, just lacked a cutting edge at times. Atmosphere was a lot better than I expected too

    Monday night, is Las Palmas night on SKY. They impressed in last weeks home win over Valencia. A chance to see how they go away from home at bottom of the league Granada.

    Probably deserved to lose despite some pressure in the second half. Extraordinary miss from Jese.

    Osasuna v Real Madrid on SKY.

    Real playing a three man central defence against the bottom of the league, probably as a trial before the Champions League game against Napoli, who play a fluid front three of Insigne-Mertens-Callejon. Real v Napoli will be a belter.

    Bad injury to Bonnin of Osasuna after 10 mins.

    Big last day here: Barcelona three points behind Real Madrid but would win league on better head to head record if they beat Eibar at home and Real lose away to Malaga. Unlikely to happen, but could be a tense finish.

    Meanwhile it's the last ever home game at the Vicente Calderon for Atletico Madrid. Going to get down there this afternoon to take in the atmosphere before the game then watch it in a nearby bar before the Real and Barcelona games kick off later - should be a great day of football here!

    That's right, although if Barcelona win the Copa del Rey then seventh place will go into the Europa League as well.

    With one point between Villareal, Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao this may come down to a three way head to head as well. Personally I think the head to head rule is much fairer than goal difference.

    Anyone know why Sky aren't showing the earlier games? Last match at Vicente Calderon plus Valencia vs Villarreal at 4pm but apparently not on telly here.

    Unfortunately it's not so exciting here in Alicante... Hèrcules CF are on the brink of going into admin and Elche CF are in freefall and look like heading into 2B... a few years back Hèrcules beat Barcelona on their patch... oh have times changed! Villareal have done well though with their academy set-up ...
