  • Glug glug glug.. .
  • Christ for our side the odd £465 looks to much .
  • Interesting that Robinson's two clubs pay the most and he has/had shares in a football agent's company.

    Interesting!

    Playoffs here we come!

Edit - just realised that was alphabetical, probably the only way we were going to finish in the top six.

    That is bleeding terrible.

Agent fees came out today. Of course it was going to be a low figure for us, but some big numbers there.

Stoke spent quite a chunk but haven’t seen much return on ‘investment’ have they.

  • Interesting how close the 3 promoted clubs are, which is reflective of the budgets of all 3 really

I think this helps to highlight how agents are milking football and just why they are so keen to agitate for players to move.

Of course, they get a cut even if their client doesn't move, just less, I assume.

The three lowest spenders - the three teams in the relegation zone at the re-start...
  • Stoke nearly £6m in a year on agents fees. Blimey
  • Do agents gets fees for loans too?

Trying to work out what our 300k was spent on.
  • All that money going out the game is ridiculous.

We've signed plenty of perms during that period, free transfers will still incur agent fees I assume

Williams (when he resigned), Oshilaja, Hemed, Amos, Oztumer, Matthews, Aneke
We paid fees for Purrington and Bonne
Contract extensions may also incur agent fees

  • Shows the gap is getting wider. The lowest amounts by some distance are the three promoted teams. After that it's Millwall, who have done well there, and Hull whose owners couldn't give a single one anymore. As we can clearly see with Stoke, money doesn't buy success for sure but it certainly helps. There really does need to be some kind of cap on spending somewhere or soon the second half of the Championship is going to be completely cut away from the top

there is a full list of players on FA site although it falls short of giving a monetary amount for each transaction.
We had 26 fees, and this does include loans. It also includes 11 for resigning of existing players such as Phillips, Lapslie, Pearce and Pratley.
To be fair it is important that some of these, particularly the youngsters need advice, and a fee should be paid. some amounts must be way over the top. £49m for Championship, £263m for premier, £4m for League 1, £1m for League 2 and over £300k for non-league teams!

  • And to think Derby's would be alot more if Rooney was classed as a player and not management

Looking at L1, not surprisingly Sunderland are at the top (£1.3m), but surprised that Coventry spent more than us (£354k). Wycombe spent an impressively low £26k, and Gillingham just £28k, both doing very well on the pitch

If you add up the total you can see just how much the amounts are over the top. £300m gouged out of the game and for what? For sure young players need advice, which could be offered by a team working jointly for the FA and the PFA.

@bobmunro is worth every penny of that annual bonus wage

That is really grim reading, Premier League clubs alone pay over a quarter of billion pounds annually to agents. Intermediaries brokering deals across the top four English leagues make a combined total of £317 million.
FIFA need to regulate agents or introduce a separate body that self-regulates. Licensed Agents; CHECK, Code of conduct; CHECK, Capped fees; CHECK.

The Government would never recommend such an incentive, HMRC make a colossal amount of money through the PL.

FIFA were set to approve the draft regulations at a meeting yesterday - not sure what the outcome was. These will come in to force next September.

£49M - It is an absolute disgrace that these scumbags are pillaging our game. In the grand scheme of things agents contribute precisely zero to the game of football.  Whatever benefits they bring in one area are simply taken from somewhere else. Shuffling the player pack is a zero sum game. I hate these fuckers poncing a bloody good living whilst people who contribute significantly to society are paid a pittance. That football agents even exist is a clear indicator that there is something wrong with our society.

The best and quickest change they could make would be for players to pay their agents, not clubs.

It should then be illegal for an agent to ask or accept any money directly from any club and for any club or official of a club to make payments to agents.
I could've sworn this has been proposed before - around the time of the whole Tevez thing maybe? Presumably it never gets anywhere cos the big clubs feel it gives them an advantage somehow.

If players pay the agents their wage demands would just increase to cover it.
