What a strange story, makes for a Hollywood blockbuster imo bet they can't wait to get started on this one.

How about a working title of.. out to sea or canodeling.

Or "My Wife and a couple of Oars"
  • What I don't get - why did he come back?

Surely they'd got away with it?
  • perhaps she was missing his cox ?
  • Especially for a dog like that. Maybe she works for hoover?
  • She'd left saying she was sick of all the rows.
He came back and said "But weir a great team, come back oar I'll be sunk without you."
She went overboard gave him a stream of abuse, and he became a drifter.
Still they look like they will still be rich when they come out.
They nearly got away with it, a strange story.
But it must be hard for their sons, it was a very cruel deception on them.

They were seen on a holiday website in south america by someone they knew, when they realised they were rumbled they came home. She had emigrated to join him years after his supposed death.
  • Bloody great story.

The only victims here are the sons sadly.

Cue the great and good tellling me its a crime to swindle thousands ...

Thats not quite how it happened cfgs. He decided to come back for whatever reason. Then the Daily Mirror took it upon themselves to turn private detective as they then found out the wife had moved to Panama. Thats when they found the picture of the couple on the property sales website, then the story started to unravel.

Its wrong to swindle cart loads of dosh out of the insurance companies !!!

anyone got a spare canoe ?

PS been done before though some Labour MP John Stonehouse "went for a swim". He got nicked for it as well. Maybe Brown should try it.

Rise and Fall of Regi Perrin (leonard Rossiter) very funny. That was along the same lines as well.
  • in a hotel in barcelona at the moment and haven't seen any english tv for a week and a half , turned on the usually great sky news and it seems that story is on a loop. Surely more than that is going on back home?

He came back to obtain fake ID in his real name (John Darwin) after living as John Jones, as Darwin was officially dead, then planned to go back to Panama to live as Darwin again with his wife.
At the end of the day, things like this cost us all when people do it, mortgage and life insurance premiums increase, it becomes harder to obtain for new applications.
They got caught, they should do the time and tough luck, pure greed and arrogance. but their sons are the real victims IMO

There is a very good timeline of emails and phone calls right upto the guilty verdicts on Sky news website, the spreadsheet plan is incredible on its own.

  • Apparently the money is still locked up in Panama. If they get to serve 3 yrs and then swan off to enjoy their swag over there it'll be a blueprint for alot more frauds.
  • If they do end up making a film of this, will they get Bernie Ecclestone to play Mrs Canoe?
  • Mrs Canoe would ur ?

    Fishnets has.
  • It has to be "Carry on Canoeing" doesn't it?
  • the reason why he "came back" according to sky news is that his fake ID wasn't sufficient to get the property stuff they wanted to do done...

He genuinely thought they would believe him.

Got to say that the sentance does seem harsh and just a reaction to the public interest. There are people who pose far more danger to society out there that are more deserving of the this lenght of sentance..
  • It that pic she is smilling because she knew Fishnets and Leroy were no their way over for a "visit"

It's because the took on the establishment, big business interests are far more important than people to the powers that be.
