  • Rudd: 3 shit distribution, including some terrible short passes. Was positionally wrong for the goal too
Solly: 2.5 don't care if he was fouled seconds before, it was a horrible challenge and petulant and was everything a captain shouldn't be doing
Page: 2 who let the ball boy play? Passing completion rate must have been about 25% Come back Fox, please?!
Bauer: 4 simple mistakes too often, dangerous in the air
Teixeira: 5 silly passes sometimes, but held the useless back 5 together
Byrne: 5.5 a bit of a livewire at first, good shot that hit the bar, faded and subbed early
Crofts: 3 insists on trying to pass first time nearly every time, a yard behind the play
Forster-Caskey: 2 booked early, thinks he's a lot better than he is, sulks a lot and nearly every pass went astray
Holmes: 4.5 had a glorious chance to equalise, and literally just stopped, 10 yards out, waiting for a challenge instead of just shooting
Mavididi: 6 faded a bit but he's a proper player that gets you off your feet, and actually has end product
Magennis: 3 crap today, lost almost every header, or headed the ball aimlessly
Aribo: 7 should start every game unless injured
Watt: 3 doesn't do a lot, and when he does he invariably gets it wrong

Rudd: 6 - no fault for goal
Solly: 3 - ridiculous red card; career gone backwards
Page: 6 - more comfortable on the ball than Fox which isn't difficult
Bauer: 5 - thinks he's Franz Beckenbauer when he's got more in common with Franz Ferdinand
Teixeira: 5 - too small to dominate centre forwards; not good enough technically to play it out
    Byrne: 4 - anonymous
Crofts: 6 - in fairness actually does the job asked as a holding midfielder
    Forster-Caskey: 3 - 'Alex' (dire)
Holmes: 6 - suddenly a no.10 having spent his career as a winger; ended up at right back
Mavididi: 8 - great talent; too good for this lot
Magennis: 7 - impossible task up front on his own
Aribo: 7 - some signs of class amidst the dross
Watt: 5 - will be pulling pints in a Glasgow pub by 2019

Rudd: 4 - too slow to react for the goal and poor distribution all night.

Solly: 2 - turning into a petulant liability. That red card has been coming for a while. Clearly frustrated and quite rightly so but he's captain and needs to behave like one.

Page: 3 - looked good first half. Looked like he'd swapped his feet for shovels in the second.

Bauer: 4 - thought he'd be a monster in this league. He isn't.

Teixeira: 2 - utter mare tonight

Byrne: 2 - apart from hitting the bar contributed nothing

Crofts: 3 - meh (as usual)

Forster-Caskey - 2 didnt hit the bar and contributed nothing.

Holmes: 5 - never stopped trying but becoming more of a headless chicken with every game.

Mavididi: 7- great player. Must wonder what on earth he's doing in this madhouse. Faded.

Magennis: 4 - poor tonight but kept on trying

Aribo: 5 - looked as good as anyone when he came on.

Watt: 4 - tried hard. Mavididi but without the style, speed or skill.
  • Rudd: 6 - Didn't have many saves to make
Solly: 3 - our best player until the red card, think it shows how low we've gone when solly petulantly takes out a player, his face when he came out the tunnel and viewed the 3-4,000 supporters said it all.
Page: 4 - for all of Morgans haters, from what i've seen this guys no better at all
    Bauer: 5 - average today
Teixeira: 5 - average, wasn't up for it today
    Byrne: 2 - didn't realise he played
Crofts: 4 - way off the pace, rabbit in the headlights
    Forster-Caskey: 3 - not impressed so far
Holmes: 6 - certainly ran around, had to fill in at right back which was comical although got away with it.
Mavididi: 7 - he's a definite talent, in a sh1t team. Sounds like a Lookman except roly won't make any money on this one
Magennis: 7 - he just looks so frustrated up there on his own, I hope he stays but doubt it.
Aribo: 7 - to late for him to make a major difference but freshened it up
Watt: 1 - I don't recall seeing a more lazy/can't be bothered player in 30+ years. He literally may as well stayed in the dugout, but then tweeting playing fifa and out to lunch this lunchtime I knew his mind was elsewhere.

Basically we've got a bunch of misfits who the manager hasn't a clue what to do with as he only knows 1-3-4-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 formation.......

Rudd: 5 goal caught him out, but was confident on everything else. Distribution could be better but that requires outfield players running into spaces for him. He was looking to get it away quickly but all too often no one was there resulting in a hoof.
Solly: 3 yes he had no protection from the ref (who was awful) but then all the refs at the Valley are awful. Expect better from our captain.
Page: 3 at least he lasted the whole game. Oh to finish a game with all 4 defenders who started it.
    Bauer: 3
Teixeira: 4 looked like he cared, even if he didn't look like Championship level centre back
Byrne: 3.5 lively at the beginning but faded quickly
Crofts: 3.5 I know he's there to break up play and lay on passes, he just didn't do it well tonight. Missing having Konsa and Aribo next to him
Forster-Caskey: 3 looked reckless at times.
Holmes: 5.5 kept going. Guilty of poor decision making at times but kept moving. Also guilty of some poor fouls. Needs to watch that.
Mavididi: 7.5 MoM by a mile. Not that it was difficult. He looked good, kept going and was responsible for most of our shots
Magennis: 5 tried, but he's rusty. Not at the level he was at before his injury
Aribo: 6 brightened things up when he came on, but it didn't last
Watt: 3 not sure what he contributed.

Ref: 2 for not being the prat who tackled us against the Spanners and disallowed a perfectly good goal. If you're going to let most fouls pass, you need to let them pass for both sides, not just where you want your kids to go to Uni.

KR: 1 very poor result and no amount of gobshitery will alter that. I understand that it is Roland who has given you an unbalanced squad, but how you line them up and the lack of discipline are down to you. Sort it out or quit. No one would think the worse of you for going, everyone in football (and hopefully soon in Belgium) know this is an impossible job.

(edit - just read this back and I'm starting to sound like Viewfinder. This must be the lowest set of marks I've given)

  • If anyone was at the Valley tonight, then your marks please:

    Rudd: 6 alright
Solly: 4 silly challenge borne of frustration, although ref had to reach around his boner to get the red card out
Page: 5 not too bad, defensively decent
    Bauer: 4.5 sluggish and reactive
Teixeira: 5 did the lion's share of the defending part but has no feet
Byrne: 4 faded and right decision to bring him off
Crofts: 6 does exactly what he's on the pitch to do
Forster-Caskey: 3.5 felt like he had a red card in him before he got subbed, piss poor passing
    Holmes: 5.5 trier
Mavididi: 6.5 stood out like a sore thumb for actually having talent
    Magennis: 5.5 battled but isolated
Aribo: 7 big impact when he came on, nullified when we went down to 10 men - the other sore thumb
Watt: 2.5 lazy, slow, constantly trying to recover from a horror first touch

Rudd: 6.5 didn't have much to do, no chance with the goal
Solly: 5 a few great runs inside, was looking good...and then that ridiculous tackle
Page: 6 was one of our better players in the first half. defended well, passing let him down on occasion
Bauer: 6.5 thought he was the better of our defenders today
Teixeira: 5 his distribution went completely haywire today
Byrne: 5.5 didn't seem to have much effect
Crofts: 6 tackled well. passed poorly. burst forwards nicely a couple of times
Forster-Caskey: 4.5 ugh, what was that
Holmes: 6 should have scored, ran into a few too many blind alleys
Mavididi: 7.5 a very bright spark
Magennis: 5 what's happened to him?
Aribo: 6 lifted the team for a brief while
Watt: 7 should have been two assists, must be so frustrated

Your markings of Watt are ludicrous btw

    Agree.

After 50 years watching the club this wasn't a terrible performance - but it was another disappointment. Part of a trend since the summer of 2014. We hit the bar and post and had a fair few goes at goal - but just can't score.

Reckon we'll be mid table at best. Could be a season on a par with Foley in 1973-1974 or Parkinson-Powell in 2010-2011 - the latter of which remains my lowest point as a supporter.

No idea what 2017-2018 will bring.....
  • I will start with saying these marks are not a knee jerk reaction... it was that bad.

Rudd: 4 positionally poor for the goal, crap distribution.
Solly: 3 was battling hard but everyone could see he was getting frustrated. Ridiculous sending off.
Page: 3 thought he was really poor. Out muscles too often and too many hopeless punts forward.
Bauer: 4 our best defender on the day which says a lot as I thought he was woeful. Bullied.
Teixeira: 3.5 bullied by their attackers. Twice they were able to bring the ball down in the box from a corner. Stood off McAleny far too much for their goal.
Byrne: 4 hit the crossbar early on. Other than that didn't do much more.
Crofts: 4 lost McAleny for their goal. Far too slow. He should be sitting in front of the defence.
Forster-Caskey: 3 could've had about 3 yellows before he aaa eventually booked for not a lot. He was never going to last 90 mins. Would've been sent off. Passing was terrible.
Holmes: 5 he's a winger... so play him on the wing! Had no time or space to do much. Better when eventually moved to the wing.
Mavididi: 7.5 breath of fresh air. Has nothing to lose and genuinely frightened them when he got the ball. Ran at them and physically matched them. This boy has got loads of promise. His mark could've been higher but went missing for a period of the game. Probably got disinterested like the rest of them.
Magennis: 4 ineffectual. He's a big target man who relies on flicking the ball on and holding the ball up... 4-2-3-1 is not suited for him, especially when the player (Holmes) who he's meant to be holding the ball up for is playing out of position.
Aribo: 6.5 needs to start. Like Mavididi, has no fear and is young. He may make mistakes but isn't afraid to try and get the ball moving forward. Nice run and shot and changed the game for a bit.
Watt: 5.5 some of the marks are slightly unfair. Watt is an out and out striker. He is not suited to any other position, especially not the wing which is where he found himself when brought on. He's another player who's best suited to 4-4-2. But everyone can see it apart from KR.

    Botaka n/a

Robinson: 0.5. The only thing he done right was the double substitution. Other than that, shocking.
  • Rudd: 6 - did ok generally. I thought he might have done better with the goal but that may be harsh
Solly: 5 - a reckless and foolish tackle extinguished any chance of getting anything out of the game
    Page: 4.5 - unimpressive
Bauer: 5 - slow, shaky and was poor in possession. A good effort in injury time but well below par. His form really has dipped
Teixeira: 5 - similar to Bauer. Sluggish
Byrne: 4.5 - faded from view (as he has a tendency to do)
Crofts: 4.5 - a poor game and looked leggy, although it can't have been easy playing alongside JFC
Forster-Caskey: 3: one of the worst performances I have seen from a Charlton player for some time
Holmes: 5.5 - played out of position behind Magennis and then as a makeshift right back. Tried hard but has yet to recover his early season form
Mavididi: 8: MoM - with his electric speed and trickery, head and shoulders above the rest of the side
Magennis: 4 - won practically nothing in the air, his movement was poor and he looked disinterested
Aribo: 6.5 - some nice touches when he entered the fray
Watt: 4 - a couple of skilful touches but I was less than impressed with him bawling out young Joe Aribo for some perceived mistake. Watt needs to concentrate on getting his own act together
  • Rudd: 6 – as has been said above, it's not his fault players don't find space for him to distribute to.
Solly: 3.5 – had been one of our better players, but red card challenge was unforgivable.
Page: 3.5 – average first half, poor after the break.
Bauer: 3 – has been one of the biggest disappointments in recent months. Had a mare tonight.
Teixeira: 3 – made some dreadful mistakes. Sometimes tries to be too flashy.
Byrne: 3 – did he do anything apart from hit the bar?
Crofts: 5 – below par, but still much more valuable than the likes of JFC and Byrne.
Forster-Caskey: 2 – appalling tonight! Terrible passing, and always looks like he'll pick up two bookings.
Holmes: 4 – should never been used as a number 10. Keeps on making reckless challenges. Another sending-off waiting to happen.
Mavididi: 7 – miles better than anyone else in a red shirt.
Magennis: 5 – it just hasn't happened since his return from injury.
Aribo: 6 – looked good when he came on compared to most of those around him.
Watt: 4.5 – didn't run as much as I'd have liked, but did create chances for others, who squandered them.
