away followings thread

Enjoyed reading the thread from last season with updates on the travelling masses (and Charlton).

I cant remember who started it - maybe @The Organiser or @ElfsborgAddick - any plans to do one this season ?

Good work, where do you get these figures from?

  • Just from one of the Facebook groups that publishes the top 10 every week.
  • That turnout for Oxford at MKD is really impressive. While MK is relatively close, it's not as if there are direct trains there

It would be interesting if you could find a survey of how people travel to away games. Going by train would probably be in the minority tbh.

New ground and a local derby, so not really that surprising

A local derby of sorts, but 38 miles away by road so not that local!

That's probably less than an hour's ride. It usually takes me more that that to get to the valley

Surprised City didn't sell out an attractive fixture & Chelsea couldn't fill their section at Hull. Good attendance from Villa.
  • #9 Brentford at Newcastle – 2,778

That's ridiculous , didn't know that many Bees lived in Newcastle

Was the game sold out? If so, some of those could have Geordies keeping very quiet when the goals went in.

I thought the same. But all the photos I've seen (away days Instagram/Facebook) it looks sold out.

    Impressive from Palace.

  • Doesn't look like over 400 empty seats

Direct trains Oxford to MK are not so far off. The new eastwest rail link should see an even bigger uplift in attendance between these giants of home counties football.
