Saw Squib start his career at the Valley -upright midfielder - solid, reliable , hugely industrious , seemed happier to avoid the limelight - played with and against some illustrious footballers of the late 50's and 60's. Think Squib probably ended his career with Colchester - saw him play for Colchester at Highbury in the FA Cup - by then he had probably worn his legs out , but as ever he was putting in the tackles and just looking class. RIP
Shocked. One of my old time favourites. Player from the "old school". Saw him play many times and he was "Kinsella like" on the field. Played in a solid, hard-working team which was a pleasure to watch and support. RIP Squib. Never forgotten.
I'm Squibs son. I'm gladdened by all the kind comments about my dad. It's heartening to know he's so fondly remembered. He could never believe his luck at being paid for doing something he loved so much. Thanks to John Rooke, I took my Dad to a former players' dinner in April where he met his old team mate Derek Ufton.
As a trustee of the Charlton Athletic Museum I like to talk to you about getting copies/photographs of items you have but when you feel the time is right.
I'm going to the museum on Saturday to check what items we already have.
John Ro, oke has informed me about a minute's silence before the Bristol Rovers game on Monday 2/1/17 so I thought I'd come to the game with my wife and two (adult) children. I've had a sort through my Dad's bits and pieces, but he wasn't very good at keeping things or looking after them. There are a number of newspaper cuttings and quite a few team photos. I don't know whether you are going to the match but perhaps we could meet if you are. I hope to get there at about 1 o'clock and will spend some time in the Millenium Lounge before taking our seats in Row Z, 179-83, West Stand Lower block WSB.
