Viva Las Vegas

Finally, booked one of my best mates stags to Vegas in May. Can anyone recommend the do's/don'ts. What to do/see?

We're a bunch of guys in our mid twenties. Staying at the MGM Grand.

Recommendations are appreciated :)

  • If you want to get in anywhere decent as a group of guys you will need to book in advance.

have a look at http://www.jackcolton.com/ for a guide to best nights etc.
  • Bit of gambling at the Casinos maybe? ;)

Good advice that. Went a few years ago and had that very same problem.
  • If you are casino virgins, most hotels hold lessons during the day on the basics. if you are even thinking of playing craps this is a must - you will be most unpopular if you rock up at a craps table without a clue in the evening.
  • Vegas is brilliant.
  • Go to one of the many Firing Ranges..
  • There is no sex in the champagne room.
  • Don't eat in Gilleys saloon - unless you want to be an expert in craps.

Couple of my mates were literally stuck on the loo for couple of days after eating there - much to the amusement of the rest of us.

People should know how to go to the toilet without lessons surely...?
  • I'd love to go whilst I'm still under 30

Mis-read that as crabs. But they're not beyond the realms of possibility either.
  • Glad this thread popped up as planning a trip with friends for our 30ths next year.

For four nights what is a good.price for flight and hotel? About £800ish for direct flights and four nights seems the norm in a 4/5 star hotel.

How much are pool parties and club entry fees on average?

Have fun on the stag and @cafcnick1992 get it booked.

Be careful what you order for dinner...

I was speaking to a Canadian whilst I was there and they had friends who went a few years before, went to this nice restaurant and were persuaded to get four specials from the menu (which that night were lobster), they got silver service, even a phone call from the Head Chef letting them know how long it would take for their meal to come out etc.

Of course not one of them thought about the fact they were in the middle of the desert and that to have lobster it would mean it would have to be shipped in from hundreds of miles away... They realised in the end when they got the bill.

The waiters tip along was four figures... True story!!
  • I didnt expect to like it but i did. Not into gambling - (i know what a stupid place to go) but went for a wedding.

Go to see Matt Goss in the Gossy Room at Caesars Palace who was brilliant
Walk into and out of the most amazing hotels that blow your mind with their bonkersness.
Its rubbish for vegetarians generally but in/out burger is supposed to be great
Go to the Grand Canyon - by plane - take a sick bag but its worth it
Dont go in August - toooo hot.

We stayed in the MGM Signature, great location.there isnt a casino in the hotel but linked to the MGM grand
  • All of it is great. Enjoy!
  • been twice stayed at the wynn and mgm grand, really is something for everyone there, even walking around the hotels is unreal, would recommend going to fremont st downtown to see the light show its a bit ott but well worth the visit and v cheap drinks i think a round of 4 spirits and mixer was around 12 dollars, going next april for cousins 40th cant wait already.
  • Adult Disneyland - it's awesome. You'll love it.
  • I'd love to go whilst I'm still under 30

    And me

  • My eldest Son got married there a few years ago and it was amazing. We all stayed at Caesars Palace and he actually got married in one of the 'wedding gardens' which was magical.
The Bud light was good! Someone else also mentioned Matt Goss, he has his resident Gossy Room in Caesars and what a fantastic night we had, even though he supports Millwall he sure did put on a great show!

We done the Grand Canyon which was AMAZING, I can certainly recommend Maverick Tours they were started by a Vietnam veteran and have got the most amazing helicopters, they are quiet, have a large viewing cockpit. We landed in the Canyon had a bottle of Maverick Champagne and a mooch around and then off again. It wasn't cheap but we looked at it as a once in a lifetime trip..........definitely worth it. We did not get to do many hotels because they are SO BIG but just looking inside is amazing.
I think there must also be quite a bit of late 'night life' as a lot of the younger people were getting back to the hotel around 5-6 in the morning!!!.........no good for me now, I need my 8 hours!!

Whatever you do or wherever you go in Vegas I am SURE you will love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ENJOY..................................
  • You may all be in your mid-twenties, but it's highly likely you will get asked for ID almost anywhere! Take it with you. My missues and I were in our 30's when we went and still got asked for ID....drinking, gambling

Good point - and passport rather than driving licence.

Not that I have the need to prove my age now (not for a very long time)
  • My spiritual home. Need to get back so badly but have 2 kids now so it's a tad difficult.
  • Yeah that's a very good point. We went out one night, just us 'old fellas' to New York New York and we couldn't get into the piano bar because we didn't have ID! I don't think it is for your age as we ALL looked in our 50's! Someone said it was in case you get into any bother!? so they can find out where you are staying etc etc. I must admit I still didn't bother as I didn't want to lose my bloody passport!

Taking my son for his 21st in October. Staying in the New York New York Hotel. It sounds nuts. Doing a tour of Zion, monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and 3 days in both Vegas and New York. Can't wait. Just me and him. Will be a blast.
  • Go downtown Vegas one night

It is very different to the strip
  • Id recommend taking Mr Chow with you.
  • Cayote in New York New York fun also.

Get there early with a group of blokes otherwise no chance
