We got made to do a course at work called "having awkward conversations". It was dull. However, there was the point about the public space. If you put something into the public space you lose all ownership of it, including other people's reactions to it. So of you say something rude to your mate and someone overhears and is offended, they are offended. That it wasn't meant for them, or they are super sensitive, doesn't matter. You put it there and that's their reaction. Either don't put something into a public space or just accept you actually don't care how people react. Be this guy (Nsfw)

I’m sure your employer put on that course with good intentions but what a load of crap. Putting out that sort of message is only going to encourage and increase the numbers in the army of people looking to be offended by anything they can be.

To be fair, it wasn't a bad course. It was mainly to do with people management and a thinly veiled attempt to stop one of the partners from being an arse. It mentioned the "shit sandwich" (probably called something else) which is where you bury some "constructive criticism" within a couple of compliments.... The result being that any compliment lead to everyone eagerly awaiting a slagging off! Regarding the offended brigade, Always liked this my Stephen Fry (also a bit rude)

  • I thought it carried a minimum ban of more than one game???

  • Farcical.

Don't worry players diving, but let's ban a guy for tweeting a joke about his mate.
