Gentlemen,last Easter monday ,purely on impulse on my way to the game,I decided to pop in for a routine psa test.(I had one a year prior which was not to bad).My result was a red letter.I contacted my gp and got urgent appointments with the hospital.To cut to the chase,I have prostate cancer.My score on a 6-10 chart was 7,and the doctors feel that I can overcome this condition without the need for surgery,I am lucky.Gentlemen.I had no symptons,I am 75,my waterworks were fine.I implore anyone who has the slightest problem to go somewhere,and anyone over a certain age should get tested.I dread to think of the consequences of not popping in for that test,it quite honestly could have saved my life.

After 2 raised reading on the PSA test over 5 months I had two different types of biopsies taken from my Prostate over a 6 week period. Local and then General anaesthetic. I would recommend to anyone to be knocked out for 90 minutes rather than suffering the pain of a local, unless you have a high threshold to pain. Maybe I was unlucky and the local didn't work quick enough ?
A Gleason score of 7 was the same as @thickandthin63 and then the options are presented to you. I opted for the radiotherapy but the consultancy team said consider surgery and the removal of the prostate.
My case has been complicated by having Diverticulitis, which they found on the MRI scan, which is a bowl problem and may affect the treatment. I'm under Chelsea Marsden for the bowl problem and Sutton Marsden for the cancer. Until February this year I was fit as a fiddle with no symptoms other than IBS.
Bizarrely the cancer is less of a problem that the Diverticulitis. I found the colonoscopy no problem on the day and the sedation give was find and even watched the procedure on a monitor.
Having monthly injections to prepare for Radiotherapy at end of year.
Despite not being able to drink alcohol, I enjoyed Wembley and was a great high in a poor 2019 so far.
