Fair enough. The 1st time I've looked at it for a while so only just seen it.
I suppose ref decisions are key and can certainly influence a game.
So yes, it is important.
It is not an "easy" job.
I do just think that it is a slight unnecessary focus. From pundits especially....
The quicker VAR gets fully established and works well within the English leagues, the better.
It will take time though, of course.
My ref score for today's game would have been 5.5/10
Phillips: 8 Excellent again. A consistent performer and one great save in first half Dijksteel: 7.5 This lad has turned into a good full back. The fact that I had confidence in him whenever he was one on one with their winger says it all. Bauer: 7 Got beat in the air a few times but otherwise solid Sarr: 8 Top drawer. Nothing else to say. Purrington: 7.5 Same as Dijksteel except he got forward a bit more. Bielik: 7.5 Solid and worked hard. Didn't stand out but think he does a lot that goes unnoticed. Cullen: 8.5 Very impressive and seemed to be everywhere. Great energy. Aribo: 9 Class! I would hate to play against this fella. Didn't put a foot wrong all game and terrorised their defence. Morgan: 8 A very mature and positive performance. Taylor: 7.5 Battled form the first minute to the last. Lost count of the number of fouls against him and none were given. Parker: 7 Good performance and unlucky not to score... His luck must change soon! One memorable chase back in the first half to win the ball back. Pratley: 7 Did everything expected of him. Referee: 7 Kept the game flowing but should have given some of those fouls against Taylor

Bielik: 6 - Sloppy on the ball, but still didn't need to get out of 3rd gear Cullen: 7 - Comfortable, screened well, kept the ball Aribo: 8 - Physically seems to be a freak for this level. Powerful and quick both on and off the ball and uses it well Morgan: 8 - My first game seeing him. Thought he was class on the ball, picked up the ball in space and used it well. Could of done better off the ball Taylor: 8 - Goal and assist, lead the line well Parker: 7 - Ran well, kept the back line honest Pratley: 7 - Solid as ever Referee: 6 - Unsure on his overall game. Seemed to just give 1 in 3 soft fouls no matter who or what for. Seemed to be frustrating the players too.
Phillips: 7 - Not one of his best games with kicking/coming off his line but didn't do much wrong. Dijksteel: 7.5 - Decent game and he's first choice for me now. Sometimes looks like he has been beaten but manages to recover. Didn't venture forward too often, especially second half but overall a solid performance and he looks way more comfortable now. Bauer: 8 - One mistake which led to them countering but otherwise a rock. Sarr: 7.5 - Thought he looked shaky for about 5 minute and then was just his usual solid self. Purrington: 7 - A 7 as usual, in fairness he had to mark their best player and did look troubled on some occasions without really suffering. Bielik: 7 - Ok but he's not as effective at CB. Had a good 5/10 minutes where I thought we were going to get a third when he moved to CM. Cullen: 8.5 - Class act, was everwhere, a real box to box display today. He has been one of our best ever loans, this time last year we had the likes of Kaikai and Zyro who looked like they couldn't care less. Now we have Cullen who looked like he could carry on running until Friday, fantastic game. Aribo: 8.5 MOTM - Edges Cullen for MOTM mainly because he scored (albeit a fortuitous goal). Was a real threat for large parts although I think he looked tired in the last 10-15 and I would have brought on Williams. Hope we keep him, as unlikely as that's starting to look because he is a class act. Morgan: 7 - I thought he was a 6 for the first 20 minutes. Wasn't his sort of game, edgy and needed a bit of a battle. When we started to dominate and have possession, he was an 8, we saw his class on the ball and he played a part in both goals. I think Bowyer was right to bring him off, the game again didn't really suit him over someone like Pratley. So a half decent game but didn't really suit him for the most part. Taylor: 8 - Scored one and assisted another. Don't think it was his best game but he battles and is made for the occasion. Lucky to have him. Only thing for me is that him and Parker don't seem to be striking up any sort of partnership, even though both played well today/ Parker: 7.5 - Best game so far. Unlucky not to score, worked hard and did trouble them on a few occasions. Certainly more positive about him than previously but still don't think he has the awareness or technical ability to be a goalscorer. Pratley: 7 - Decent little cameo, just what we needed. Referee: 6 - Thought he was ok but the yellow for Bauer seemed harsh and I thought he gave both teams some soft free kicks. That does balance it out but doesn't mean he made the right decisions.

Strode around so confidently Morgan: 7 - sprayed the ball around to the flanks brilliantly. Found the second half more difficult as Donny came out in force Taylor: 8 - Force of nature, but could have done better in the final third on occasion and couldn't influence the game when Parker came off Parker: 6.5 - He does try, but he looks like he'll never get a goal in a Charlton shirt Pratley: 7 - Not brilliant on the ball but excellent at minor cheating. Won us so many free kicks to break up their play just by being experienced and having the nous to draw fouls Referee: 5 - No major cock-ups but constantly let them get away with blatant holding on Taylor and Parker

Sarr: - 7.5 Another man mountain, who bloated out the sun for Marquis.
