More EFL buffoonery from RD

Reports over the weekend from Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg state that RD has commissioned Brussels based marketing agency Pivott (mission statement: Pivott is your digital partner specialized in personalized creative marketing solutions) to seek EFL approval for a name change for Charlton Athletic from the city of London (as the paper describes us) in order to make the club more attractive to potential buyers by capitalising on the London name. He had evidently seized upon the West Ham connection with the London Stadium as a precedent.

However, when advised by the EFL than the name London cannot be incorporated into any formal club name, Duchatelet, (not to be deterred and presumably in his now characteristic way) sought to find a way around this and latched on to the relatively recently created Milton Keynes Dons hybrid and the new AFC Bournemouth name (historically known as Bournemouth and Boscombe FC).

To come up with the weird and wonderful concoction of CAFC Lon Dons!

According to the reports Duchatelet has given Pivott until 12 noon today to produce a marketing ‘solution’ which can be presented to the EFL during the coming week.

Watch this space I guess for the EFL response
