  • Only three games in but after poor starts from Atletico and Valencia it already looks like the league will be between Real and Barcelona. Hoping at least one of the other teams can keep those two on their toes.

    Hopefully Celta!
  • Eleven Sports have extended my 1 week free trial twice without me asking so far, which suggests not many people have signed up, surprise, surprise. Done screen mirroring from my phone on to my tv for the Seville derby this evening, picture quality is poor, which is a shame as there's lots of good content on the app.

If La Liga want to raise their profile internationally, selling the UK rights to a company that only lets you watch it on a laptop, tablet or mobile seems extremely shortsighted when everyone's got 40inch+ tv's at home.

    Decent game so far though.
  • Pretty damn happy with how Huesca have started off, confident (hoping) they'll survive, just trying to convince the in-laws of that though.....

Bet no one saw that coming!!
  • La Liga is planning to subsidise travel and accommodation for fans affected by its plans to stage an annual fixture in the United States.

According to Spanish media, Girona's home game with Barcelona on 27 January will be played in Miami.

Spanish football's top tier has agreed to move one game per season overseas for the first time as part of a 15-year deal with media company Relevent.

The Spanish FA and Spanish Footballers' Union have criticised the plan.

A source close to La Liga said the subsidised travel and accommodation would be for home season ticket holders, while others fans will be compensated for missing out on a home match. Catalan newspaper Sport said there would be 1,500 free flights available for Girona season ticket holders and overnight accommodation, although a refundable deposit would be required.

It said those who did not want to travel would be given a ticket to the away game against Barcelona at the Nou Camp on 23 September, while fans who cannot do either would get a discount on their season ticket.

A La Liga spokesperson said: "At this time we can not confirm the clubs, location or timing of the match - just that we are working are with all involved, clubs, players, fans, institutions to make this happen and for all to be able to enjoy it."

The players' union - the AFE - says its members were not consulted by La Liga about the plan for the US game. In August, players from all La Liga sides met to discuss the issue with AFE president David Aganzo, who refused to rule out strike action if needed.
  • Disappointing. Really looks like it's going to happen, now that they've blackmailed the clubs and the supporters of the clubs involved.

Putting aside the fact that it's yet more horrendous modern football nonsense ruining the game, it massively impacts on the integrity of the competition. Girona beat Real Madrid and drew with Atletico in home matches last season, they are more than capable of springing a surprise on their own patch. Will that still be the case playing in a supposedly neutral stadium where virtually every one there has come to watch Barcelona?
  • Besides easyJet and Ryanair, anyone know of who flies to Madrid from London regularly . Looking to do an overnight trip there next month and get a couple of games In. Wanted to compare flight prices before jumping in

British Airways, Iberia and Norwegian are all good options and the first two have many flights a day.

  • Surprised at this as pretty much all the reports said that the players were completely against it.

Atletico Madrid really struggling to launch their season with yesterday's home draw against Eibar (thanks to injury time equaliser rescuing a point for them) meaning it's only one win from first four games.

Real's draw against Athletic Bilbao leaves Barcelona looking dominant already at top after four straight wins. Celta Vigo the surprise team so far and could pull level with Real if they beat Girona on Monday night.
  • Marko Dmitrovic man of the match for Eibar against Atletico yesterday and he is gaining a reputation as one of the best keepers in La Liga.
  • Was looking earlier at the number of midfield options Valverde has to pick from:

Busquets, Rakitic, Coutinho (probably his preferred 3).
Then he has Arthur, Vidal, Rafinha, Denis Suarez, Samper and Sergi Roberto.

    Spoilt. For. Choice.

Rayo Vallecano's mess of a season continues with a 1-5 loss at home to Alaves in the first game back in their home stadium after it had to be closed due to over-run building work. Even yesterday their fans didn't know if the game would be played today but it finally went ahead although they'll wish it hadn't.

Check out their very scientific testing of the ground's structural reliability by some of their stewards:

  • Rare mid week La Liga games this week, with a whole round of games from tomorrow till Thursday before the next round starts on Friday for the weekend. Works well at this time of year as the later kick offs are much better because of the heat, with Atletico starting against Huesca at ten tonight. The intense heat here last week meant that various players and fans suffered from heatstroke during last week's games. We're looking forward to summer being over soon here!
  • Is the 1st game not Espanyol v Eibar at 19:00 tonight

Is the 1st game not Espanyol v Eibar at 19:00 tonight

Eight here - Spain is an hour ahead. Will be much better for the players and fans than the midday and mid afternoon games last weekend.

I was at a game last week and despite it being almost a sellout everyone was gathered at the back of the stands in the last few rows where there was some shade. Health and safety nightmare!

To counter against the heat in August especially there have been games kicking off at midnight in the past - that's a bit much, with fans not happy about that and a group of Rayo fans once smuggled a bed into the stadium to protest against ridiculously late kickoffs.
  • Biggest shock for a while in one of tonight's games - bottom club Leganes beat top club Barcelona. Hopefully Sevilla can beat Real Madrid tonight to really make it an open league this year.
  • Thought Barca were lousy from the equaliser onwards. Poor defensively and rarely threatened after going behind. Pique's had a shocking week.

  • Seville 2-0 up. Entertaining evening so far.
  • Now 3-0. Barce and Madrid both losing on the same day can't happen too often...
  • Now 3-0. Barce and Madrid both losing on the same day can't happen too often...

First time in three and a half years according to Twitter.
  • Added more spice to the Madrid derby this weekend
  • Could be 3 games without a win for Barca.

    Drew to Girona
    Lost to Leganes
    Losing to Bilbao
  • Draw for Barcelona means Atletico could pull level with them if they can beat Real tonight.

Really looking forward to tonight's Madrid derby - come on Atletico!
  • Could be 3 games without a win for Barca.

    Drew to Girona
    Lost to Leganes
    Losing to Bilbao

Can't have been very often over the last decade that they've gone 3 league games without a win.

Their next 3 league games are:

    Valencia away
    Sevilla home
    Real Madrid home

    Huge month ahead.

I’m lucky to have a ticket for Spurs v Barca on Wednesday. Fully expecting Spurs to be torn to shreds, even with Barca’s league form at the moment.
  • No goals yet in Madrid derby but quite a lot of spice, as to be expected with a game featuring Sergio Ramos and Diego Costa.
  • So Barca have now gone 3 games without a win but remain top
