AC Milan banned

AC Milan have been banned from next season's Europa League competition by UEFA following an investigation of the club's finances.

The governing body had been looking into whether the Italian club had complied with the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, in particular, the break-even requirement.

On Wednesday, a UEFA statement read: "The club is excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify."

Milan, who finished sixth in Serie A last season, qualified for next season's Europa League and so the ban will stop them from playing in that competition.

The Italian club has the right to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland.

    True.
  • Would that mean Atlanta go into group stage and Fiorentina into qualification

PSG's revenue is more than double Milan's so they can obviously afford to spend more and they have CL football.

Milan spent 170m when they weren't even in Europe.

However i believe PSG have to sell something like 60m of players in the next few weeks otherwise they're in FFP trouble too

Trump tweeted about that today claiming it was unfair on American workers.
  • Just seen not only are they banned for next season.

They are ineligible to qualify for the 2019/2020 season.

So its a 2 year ban from European Competitions
  • Berlusconi will be upset.

i remember when that Chinese bloke first came in and bought the club some suggested this could be the turnaround to make them the giants of Italian football once more. what I didn't realise is where he was getting some of the money from to pay the debts. he just loaned it of some American hedge fund on high interest with no idea how to pay it all back whilst keeping the club running.

Now he's desperate to sell some or all of the club.
two different American consortiums are in negotiations but as we know these talks seem to be taking some time. meanwhile they are offloading some of their more talented players at reduced rates.
