Ive supported for years, the smell of falure is normally always there, although occasionally the wind does shift it a bit, I think thats the best we can hope for.

It's like a marriage... expected good times, exciting at first and full of hope, dreams and aspirations.
You have rough patches but that implied bond and expectation of eternal love keeps you going and you get through it.
Would like to now say you get through it stronger and better for it and at the end it's all worth it.... but no, like marriage you will get to the end of your life look back and think what a waste and why did you squander all of those prime years on disappointment, frustration and despair whilst mates and colleagues boasted to you for years how they've got to go up the Arsenal twice a week for the last 50+ plus years as you are left to curse the bastard who introduced you to a lifetime of abject misery all those years ago.
At the moment I'm thinking about a local non-league team for next season instead. It'll be difficult, but fuck CAFC and the cunt that owns it, thats how I feel at the moment.

Same. I can't even muster any enthusiasm for the World Cup. Football is now so far removed from the game I fell in love with I can't help feeling there must be something better to do than waste my time watching overpaid prima donnas.

We punched above our weight for a good 19 years. We will do the same in the future in most of our lifetime.
Why? The fans are too good to not make it happen. Everytime I question my love for the Club due to the posion of chances and vainity projects I remember....
I support Charlton first and foremost because it's my local team and the fans represent all that is good in the game.
Beginning to appreciate the Palace Ultras togetherness, the eagle, the cheerleaders as well as Millwall’s support not fighting each other, cracking ground and location and their undoubted position as the top club in SE London.
I have been attending most home games since 1950 and I will continue to do so whoever owns the club. I wont be able to catch up after the curtains close.

My last game was when Chris Powell beat us with his Huddersfield team. After that match, my ST went in the bin and I've not watched them play since. Been a couple of times I've been tempted, but sobered up and thought better of it. I don't even follow the ins & outs of players now and for the life of me, I couldn't name 3 players in the squad and only occasionally look out for the results. Have since found alternative ways of enjoying my weekends. The sad part is: I was waiting for Roland to depart and then end my exile, but I'm really not sure I'll want to..............
I’m done until he goes. I’ve stuck at it for 2 years, I came close to renewing my season ticket (which I have had since 1985) last month but didn’t.
The turning point for me was my total indifference to losing in the playoffs, that feeling of total anxiety when the board goes up and we are only one goal behind has gone. I’m not sure it will ever come back.
It is painful to admit but I can’t get angry anymore, I simply don’t care. I rarely look at the takeover thread and am not sure Mr Muir will give me back my cafc mojo.
Ultimately Roland, Meire and all their cronies have destroyed the club. They have driven away a huge percentage of the hardcore fanbase, I’m not sure they will ever come back.
The sadest thing of all is If Roland read this thread he still wouldn’t get it. Him and his minions never have and never will. As someone on here has said a few times just fuck off and sell the club.
Come on boys, if we've been supporting for over 50 years we are not going to give up now, however long it takes to get our mojo going again. Friends and loved ones pass on, the new boss is the same as the old boss and the sands of time are slipping through our fingers. The stark reality is there is a finite amount of time left. You owe it to yourself to enjoy the high and lows of this stupid special football club while you can.

I think we have all fallen out of love with Duchatelet's Charlton. A football club is more than a business. We don't go and support BP or ASDAs! Duchatelet has never understood that simple fact. We are part of the club and the club is part of us.
I was in France before Christmas and we were playing Blackpool at home. I didn't give the game a second thought and when I found the result out - 1-1 with them scoring a late equaliser, it annoyed me for 5 minutes then I forgot it. That told me something had changed in me.
When we get our Charlton back we will fall back in love with it I'm sure.

There was recently a thread about Robbo. He was a player who would run through a brick wall for the club. And the team was full of heroes. Not always the best, but good players who were Charlton playere! The supporters were the 12th man. An often used cliche but true. Fergie said it was one of the most intimidating places to visit and he knew a thing or two about that. A rocking Valley was a sensation to behold.
Watch the 3-3 draw with Man Utd on you tube and you might just pick up a sniff of it! Of course you really had to be there to really understand it! We need to have hope we can get that back some day!

Interesting first post having been a member for three years especially as there can't be that many armchair Addicks out their, Manure, Cheslski; Citeh, Liverpool but Charlton?
Anyway in answer to the question; Very special, too few and far between (over the last 60 years of support) which make them all the more enjoyable when they come round. Hope that helps.
The danger at the moment is a club will come and other silly money for any of the few players we have left and they will be sold off. We are as it is thin on the ground with our squad. Bow has a hard job at the moment getting in any sort of player under this owner.

Attended my first game in 71 aged 8, I have a 12 year old son who's hardly been to The Valley due to my enforced Duchatelet based exile, took my son to a number of away games last season which he loved and also the play off home leg, he has truly got the Charlton bug. I was looking forward to purchasing 2 season tickets next year but this now looks I jeapordy and I'm totally gutted.
Duchatelet has deprived my son and I of those special Charlton bonding moments between dad and son, it looked that all was not lost but if he is still here next season, then I fear it will be.
