Which local derbies have you been too?

Just about to set off to see the great historical rivalry that is LA Galaxy v LA FC unfold.

Got me thinking that other than Charlton & our lovely neighbours I don’t think I’ve been to any other derbies that I remember.

Am sure someone on here has been to the Timbuktu derby or somesuch rarity!

  • Spurs/Arsenal
    Liverpool/Man U - not technically a derby but ...
    Man U/Man City
    Chelsea/Arsenal
Olympiakos/AEK - guest of the Chairman/owner of Olympiakos and very pleased to have his protection - utter lunacy inside and outside the ground.

Would love to go to an Old Firm game - on the bucket list.
  • Went to Fluminense vs flamengo at the maracana, pretty special
  • Brighton v Southampton Goldstone ground FA Cup 1986 Southampton won 0-2

Went with Brighton mate behind the goal terrace , 15 step crowd surges on a packed terrace, proper mental
  • Done AC v Inter but had been all day drinking on a Sunday so no idea when think AC won 4-0
  • Port Vale v Wolves (sort of Derby) in 1988. Mate was studying at Keele University at the time & thought it would be good to take in a game whilst I was up there visiting.

  • New York Red Bulls v New York City FC
  • Can’t think of any apart from us except possibly Millwall v QPR unless you can call Millwall v Watford a derby.
  • Millwall v Charlton Kim Grant double.

Palace v Charlton Dennis in the last minute.

    Charlton v palarse.
Sha la la la la la la la
    We sent the palace down
  • Other than involving Charlton matches.
Nearly all these I attended are during the late 70's and 80's and were pretty tasty on and off the pitch..

    Celtic v Rangers
    Motherwell v Hamilton
    Man Utd v Man City
Liverpool v Everton (at the old Wembley)
    Forest v County
    West Ham v Arsenal
Stockport v Man City (as recent as 2002)
    Nice v Monaco
    Essen v Duisburg
    Beitar Jerusalem v Hapoel Jerusalem
  • Slough Town v Wycombe Wanderers.
It's a dead derby now though because Slough couldn't follow (or lead them) up the leagues.

    Come on you Rebels!
  • Sparta v Slavia (Prague), several times. Usually piss poor, the first one in 93 was easily the best I saw. Passed on the latest one, which was a big mistake. Sparta 3-0 up at H-T, Slavia levelled on 93m.
  • Palermo V Catania
    Barca V Espanyol
  • Few years ago I was at Torquay v Exeter. Don’t come much bigger than that.

We laugh, but the 90s football biz guru Alex Fynn , explaining the "event like nature of games", wrote "So Peterborough vs Cambridge is an Event, whereas Liverpool vs Charlton Athletic is not"

    Bastard was right, though..
