Not a good manager and i'm glad he is gone from a footballing perspective, but he did seem to genuinely care about us and only ever tried his best. I don't think you can argue he didn't care. Granted he did talk drivel a lot, but a manager praising their boss is nothing new. As mentioned though some of the abuse he got 'fat scouse wanker' was not very classy and quite bizarre. I don't recall any other Charlton manager getting these things thrown at him, particularly by decent and insightful posters on here

I'm assuming he quit because he knew that the new owners would replace him, and then the right job came up for him (on a personal level due to its location) so he went for it. I couldn't see him quitting Charlton to take a job at Plymouth or Doncaster for example.

Things had clearly gone wrong behind the scenes at some point. Once things go toxic there is no turning back. He needed to go and it took longer than it should which fed a lot of anger and abuse towards him.
I had supported him until around the Oxford game when it became clear to me the players had lost faith in him and weren't playing. I got angry - very angry and abused him a bit on here. I was very glad he was gone but I've gone back to not hating him again.
He's not a brilliant manager and isn't going to get a squad to wildly outperform expectations. To get promotion he will need to have the best players in the league to fit his system and a bit of luck around injuries etc. At the same time he's not a terrible manager and tries to do things the right way - I admit sometimes that's annoying and pragmatic football is what's needed. I won't begrudge him any future success.
He was simply the wrong man at the wrong club at the wrong time. Wasn't the problem but wasn't the solution and wasn't making the best of the situation either.
Charlton is about hardworking players all fighting together and the team being greater than the sum of the parts. He was all about fancy football and looking good the two don't align. Even if roly wasn't here.

Nor will I forget all that guff about the players can go and come back at pre-season when he was already leaving himself. How about telling us the players can’t perform because of matters off the pitch. How about him letting it be known he’d offered to resign twice knowing full well it wouldn’t be accepted. All that aside from his refusal to change, play Dijksteel and Aribo added to sending KAG out on loan. Not playing Ajose, telling us Zyro couldn’t play 90 minutes or up front. Failure to get Reeves and many others to play anywhere near their best. All that plus the endless bu***hit. However, he had passion and really cared about the club.....yeah, right!

I think he did some good things and have nothing against him and do wish him well. It just seemed to me that he was too inflexible which is surprising for a young guy (in management terms) who started very young.

I don't expect any manager to care in the same way as we do. Charlton is not Robinson's club - but when he became manager he bought into what the club could be and what he wanted to do for it. That is all I ask of a manager and expect him to do the same at Oxford. I won't criticise him for thinking he could solve the issue between owner and fans with words - it is ignorance but noble enough! He discovered the hard way what we already knew about the owner!
What I will criticise him for is his inflexibility tactically and I think it is hard to argue against this massive weakness. But other aspects I assume, I don't really know, he did well enough and I do think he tried his best.
KR patently stopped trying in his last month/6 weeks and then manufactured a move for himself. Whatever the rights or wrongs of it, if it was a player who did that he would get booed off the park whenever he came to the Valley.
I doubt any manager, SCP and maybe Jose aside, will be remembered under the Dutchalet era. Ironically he came in when Nugent had done so well in his short stint. Unfortunately for KR, he talked an incredible game but rarely delivered. I didn't like it, even if true, when he spouted off after the Shrewsbury away game last season, calling out that certain players were not "playing for the club". KR will be remembered for his David Brent style press interviews, thankfully they've moved on to pastures new. He had a little spell when we were playing some neat football, but very much one I will want to forget when new owners are in and we're back in the Championship, at the very least.

In those 6 weeks we dropped out of the play offs and won, I think, one game.
If we miss out on the play-offs (remember Karl promised we'd never be out of automatic promotion chase) we can point to that run and in particular to Blackpool and Fleetwood as the key reason.
