WAR supports ROT

WAR does not stand for Women Against ROT! Far from it, indeed some of us are founder members of ROT whilst others have now signed up as party members.

We recognise that 50% of St Truiden voters are female, so it will be very important for there to be a female presence to make ROT's campaign credible. To do this ROT needs female party members and we encourage you to join this timely and inventive initiative to take the fight to get our club back to the owner's home turf.

Membership is available to all for a one-off fee of £10 enabling you to come along to the first general meeting on 4th April, 8pm, at the Swan in Charlton, and help shape the way forward. Membership fees will be used to fund necessary election expenses such as leaflets and costs associated with registering our candidate; those travelling to Belgium will continue to fund their own personal expenses.

Anyone interested in becoming a member should email members@rolandouttoday.eu

    Happy to see this.

Let’s remember that WAR was founded in large part to counter Roland’s accusations that fan complaints about Katrien were due to misogyny rather than because of her incompetence.

Roland made clever use of Belgian law in 2008 when he transferred his shares in STVV (& hence the Stayen complex, and the soon-to-be-completed boutique hotel, ‘t Hof van Stayen) to his “life partner” Marieke. He thus avoided being in a difficult legal situation when the Sint-Truiden Council, of which he was then a member, sold the land which now houses the Stayen complex to STVV at a bargain basement price. Yes, Roland has now sold STVV to Japanese businessmen, but not the ground in which they play.

If ROT highlights this as part of its campaign to question Roland’s business practices, he may be tempted to reuse the misogynist slur to defend himself and Marieke, unless this is rendered implausible by the presence of female “Rotters”. The importance of ROT being a mixed gender group goes beyond a simple reflection of the electorate of Sint-Truiden.

I completely agree but "female rotters" is just asking for trouble!

More trouble than "female warriors"?

Seeing as there are gender quotas in the municipal election, perhaps we'll find a candidate for the ROT list among our lady Warriors

Have I missed something? Whilst I'm pleased to hear the WAR supports ROT, the opening sentence looks a little strange in isolation.
