I get that it’s a bit of an inconvenience- but in this instance, common sense is to put the additional population into an existing open block that has sufficient spare capacity.
I’ve no problem with the letter and thought it was fair and well wrote for Charlton. Slightly annoying, I’m more annoyed tbh they sold us half season tickets there in the first place as this was clearly on the cards and introduced straight after. Has meant the quiet area we’d done our homework on during the first half of the season so my boy could get a bit of freedom and not worry about him kicking anyone else etc has proved the opposite. So now we will have to change his familiarisation and routine (which we didn’t want to do). Also not been able to book tickets for friends and relatives to sit with us as the area has been blocked out on the system.
As mentioned before, had food throwing and all sorts going on around us last few games and have had to have words with youth club guardians to get their kids in line.
Likelihood will be we move to a cheaper area, or try and find another quiet area. A blanket 500 ticket area for the Trust every game seems excessive imo, and very rarely expect anything near full take up.

I'd be very pissed off if this was me. You're a long term season ticket holder. Consultation would have been a start, but using the blocked off areas is the answer.
I've sat amongst school kids in the East stand and it was bloody awful. Few are interested, they're always getting up, kicking the back of your seat, standing up, throwing stuff. And the adults who are supposed to be in charge of them do bugger all.

For the umpteenth time. I don't want to sit with kids. My mate doesn't want to move, because his kids want to stay put. Ergo, i will be sitting by myself next Season in another part of the ground.
Sounds like an inconvenience but they've been quite fair in their implementation. They could have consulted fans, as mentioned earlier in this thread and then maybe they'd have had your goodwill.
Now they'll stick an extra 500 on the 'tickets sold' attendance for every fixture next season though!
The Supporters Trust did raise this with the club last month. We stressed that most supporters would applaud the principle but would not welcome a lot of semi interested young people into their midst. At the time the club had not decided which block to use and we stressed that they should make it clear before putting season tickets on sale.
We have written today to try to find out the reason why using one of the unused blocks wasn't seen as the solution.
If I’d received this when I had a season ticket and when I used to enjoy going to Charlton it would have pissed me off. Nowadays I couldn’t give a crap what they do or where they choose to lie about the attendance....

Not an overreaction at all. I want to move, my mate wants to reluctantly stay because his kids like it there. I would like to move because I don't want to be surrounded by young Chidren. The Club are forcing me to make a decision I shouldn't have to make.
With about 8,000 going currently and maybe 12,000 if we are taken over then initiatives to get more fans in have got to be a good thing.

Very sympathetic to the OP on this. I’m attached to my seat and I’d be pissed off if they surrounded me with freebies. That said, I’d be getting the best seat on the half way line if it was me. In actual fact, my mate sits in the best seat in the house on the half way line in the east row Q and he has about six free seats in his row. Can’t understand why folk In the cheap seats don’t just move there anyway.

Ask them for the general season ticket prices for next season.
Why would you worry about this now? No waiting list after all and we know we are to be under new ownership at some point. Difficult to see how any supporter is going to be inconvenienced by a delay in pricing announcement

I would’ve thought this would have been done by staff who are carrying on like usual.
If they didn’t make any decisions because they think a sale will be soon and then it fell through between now and June they’d look a bit silly.

Someone, a Line Manager probably, would have initiated this process but inevitably "someone" higher would have had a light bulb moment & come up with this fantastic new idea to boost our attendances.
Talk about re-inventing the wheel.....
It's as though freebies have never been handed out to schools & community groups in the past ! We even had a dedicated member of staff until a few months ago whose task was to find ways to bring in new fans.
Whilst I have no problem with making a fresh attempt to swell our numbers, surely this could have waited until the start of a new season when existing season ticket holders in the designated area could be given more notice in order to decide whether to move their seats. Why now, towards the end of the current season ?
As others have pointed out, there are already areas in the ground which could have been utilised for the remaining matches of this term.
For me, this is yet another indication of the lack of respect for existing supporters & is a very poor show.

It’s not a new idea. It’s the same thing that’s been done for many years. The difference is moving season ticket holders rather than placing them around the ground. In practice the block will be pretty empty because most of the tickets aren’t used - the trust adds them to their projects because it improves their offer but it doesn’t mean people come (at this level). The coaches give them to their mates depriving the club of revenue.

The point is you don’t need to piss off the season ticket holders to do it. Block B is better than block H.
