If Rangel is fit then he'd be a sensible signing actually. Not sure whether he'd want to leave Wales, he seems very settled in the area and probably would want to stay with Swansea after retirement

I'd snap up Rangel. Very, very happily.
  • Options
He's currently injured, and they had to play a CB (Mike Van Der Hoorn) out of position against Newcastle as Kyle Naughton is suspended.

Can't see him leaving Swansea any time soon.

Call me Karen Fraeye, but I’ve just realised we really, really need a right back.

Solly is often injured and is getting on a bit, Konsa is probably leaving, and Dijksteel isn’t a right back.

Striker, right back, strong aggressive midfielder, in that order, for me.

    Karen Fraeye.
Bloody bloody bloody hell bloody auto thingummy

Àngel Rangel, I'd take those old legs. Be surprised if he came though.

I thought all footballers legs had gone once they got past 30, no? Or have I been brain washed on here

If you think we will be signing an experienced Premiership player using Ricky's wages then you are completely deluded. That or we were paying Ricky about 5 players wages..........maybe that's why we got rid of Tex, Watt, Ceballos, Vetelele & Ajose.

    What were Ricky’s wages?

Why can't Barnes sit on the bench tomorrow?

Loaning him out with the squad in its current condition is fuckwittery of the lowest order.
Our one senior right back is out for the forseeable. The favoured replacement is likely to be sold in the next couple of weeks. We've seen one inexperienced youngster acquit himself quite well in the last month or two. Barnes is the only other player to have played for us at RB still available. Ezri Konsa leaves and Anfernee Dijkstil gets clattered or suspended - what then?
    Unnaffingbelievable
Quite simple really, he's not good enough for the first team yet, the loan will do him the world of good!
The logical extension of your argument is that Charlton will be better off fielding 10 or 9 men should another couple get clattered or suspended.
A fit and able inexperienced youngster is obviously a less risky option than an unfit and injured older bloke who was better when he was healthy. If Gobby is playing politics with his selections and youngsters' careers and that is both counterproductive and morally unacceptable. If the septicgenarian bungler is interfering in the squad again then that needs to be leaked.

    fixed that for you

10 minutes after signing over the whole club operation to the next owner(s) I hope the rancid old liar falls off his wallet and breaks his scrawny neck

Wouldn't make sense to play an u23 player if they've been told they'll be released in the summer though. That could be the case with Barnes.

If you listen to KR's post match interview he is very clear on the matter. It wasn't to prove a point or that none of the U23's were any good, but that both the U23's & the U18's had games (one on Friday & one on Monday ???) & he felt that he didn't want to take bodies away from theses games & the fact that the have an injury crisis too & so there just aren't enough fit bodies to go round.

Even though he does go on at times the interview is a good listen.

Just to put the Rangel one to bed, that is tweeted by the account that used to be known as ‘MichaelWalshLDN’

Whoever runs that account made false racism accusations regarding Bury fans and got a load of backlash

    It’s rubbish basically.

Surely the 1st team takes precedence though? If we were that worried about the U23s, why aren't Konsa and KAG (for example) still playing for them?

Charlton Athletic look set to loan out Nicky Ajose again if he does make an SE7 return this month.

The big-money signing from Swindon Town joined Bury at the start of the campaign but has scored just once in League One for the Shakers.

Ajose has failed to make their matchday squad for 15 matches.

He was frozen out by both Bury bosses he worked for this season – Lee Clark and Chris Lucketti, who was sacked earlier today.

Ajose was unable to play in Saturday’s match at Gigg Lane due to the loan agreement between the two clubs. Mark Marshall netted the winner for Charlton.

The South London Press has been told that the former Manchester United youngster will once again be available for loan if he heads back to The Valley in the current transfer window.

Not at all surprising. It seems there are issues with his attitude along with his footballing ability. A silly signing clearly made because we don't/didn't know how to full scout a player, especially one like Aose who is a specialist.

Unnamed keeper on trial with the U23s this PM

Who was the Indian keeper we were linked with?

Dheeraj Singh. Had a trial set up with us and other teams down South, then is going up for trials in Scotland too. Few teams including Motherwell.

Shame he didn't get his chance to shine (or flop) today.

Will be playing Champions League in five years time and we miss out because no one could dig a drainage ditch

I see Ulvestad hasn't played at all this season for Burnley (not injured either), might be worth bringing him back as he can certainly do a job in the midfield 2

Agreed, thought he was one of the bright sparks in a poor season.

Not played a league game this season so maybe available. His current team play in red Humell shirts. Ready to go. Well done.

Tore his ACL in pre-season I believe. Think he's basically out for the season. I'd have him back, but I don't think he'd be the most effective in our system.
