Fashion Advice

Black leather jackets - the classic rocker/biker style.
I had one in my twenties and want one again.
Knowing that you guys are never shy in offering fashion advice the question is :
How old is too old?

25 years old, but only it was before 1990
  • And you can wear them anywhere:

Whatever you do, ffs don’t ask @T_C_E for fashion tips.
  • Go for black...

  • Ive still got one and I’d definitely be classified as too old and I don’t have a motorbike.

It’s probably about 30 years old and nicely worn in.

But to be honest I never wear it because I try to avoid wearing leather.

I’ve often thought of chucking it out but can’t bring myself to do so.

I might be tempted to get rid, if it had a good home to go too?

  • I guess it would be nice if I could touch your body
No, no not everybody has got a body like you.
  • This thread has got potential...
  • If you want one and you're confident wearing it then just buy it.
  • Poor cow.

I'm consulting my distressed leather range back catalogue to see what stock is available for the more mature man about town.
  • Just to give a bit more info -
I fail pretty much all the Charlton Life acceptable dress code tests.

    Trainers (Vans/converse types) as standard
    Suit for weddings/funerals only

    What's wrong with that?

In California we call that "getting dressed." You add a sweater if you want to be fancy.

Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Life is too short.
  • It depends on how it smells.

Go to a few gigs each week and I just feel those 'once a year' members of the audience give themselves away with the deeply 'musty' smell of their jackets.

Nothing wrong with only going to a gig every couple of years or so, but please, we don't need to endure your stench in the queue for the bar.

Are you sure you’re not me?
  • Get yourself a Belstaff, Bob. You'll look a lot less like a born again hooligan then bud

I like the Outlaw but at 1350 sheets it's out of my price range.

Yeah, they are a bit trumpy, but worth it mate
  • There's a load of leather jackets on eBay - depends on what style you want. Second-hand stuff can be good value.

The Schott stuff is normally okay especially if made in the US - lasts a lifetime and easy to sell if you get bored of it.
  • I brought a leather jacket from the club shop once for £99. It had a massive Charlton badge on the back.

Feck me, you only have to add you drink WKD blue straight from the bottle and your Charltonlife membership will be revoked immediately. ;)
