Art Garfunkel and Matt Munro for me. I wasn't born 'til the 70's and only recently discovered Matt Monro.........Just wow. Apparently named by Sinatra as one of his favourite singers.
This is going to be as impossible as the guitar riff thread. It seems that we all love virtually all the riffs, and all of these voices had their moments and are admirable in themselves. It is often about those moments that touch a place deep inside, and the time when that happened. I wouldn't have any of his stuff as a Desert Island Disc but Elvis Presley's voice had a way (to quote Lou Reed) of getting to the centre of your head. Voices are definitely a matter of personal taste in my view.
Really? Great front man with a distinctive voice, but he's far from being a great singer
Well....look at some of the others that have been mentioned, they could also be described as front men/women with distinctive voices but not particularly great singers. In fact most mentioned can arguably come into that category wouldn’t you say?

As is Jagger (not by you or I)..... by many millions worldwide Mac and that’s why I’m surprised no one has mentioned him up to now.

But agree that Matt Munro was very special too & taken far too young.
